Subject: Question on the Halo rings.

Why exactly did they make the rings so "Beautiful" as in having impressive landscapes with foliage, seas, and mountains.
Wouldn't it be less costly if they just made a ring that was barren and just metal.

I know the rings were a form of "terminal" for species getting cataloged and then shipped to the ark, but is that really the only reason they would make the rings sustainable to have life?

In summary, why make a weapon of mass destruction, beautiful, for a lack of a better word?

Obviously they wouldn't be able too but why not make something more.. er cheap? They could of used an actual planet, but that doesn't make for a good story.

Less costly? The forerunners had about 3 million worlds and they've had thousands upon thousands of years to decrease the cost of making super structures. They have money to spare.

Why do we build houses with interesting architectural features when we could easily build plain houses for less cost? It's all about making it beautiful along with functional to show off power and wealth.

You all do understand that alien economies are not going to be anything like human ones?

I think it was "dust" or some forerunner in cryptum that said it sent their commerce economy back thousands of years and pretty much laughed. It was nothing building the halos, not to mention with 3 million worlds your economy is going to be massive to start with.

When they're under attack by the Flood that killed most of their population and now they're desperate and trying not waste any time nor resources. Your right, but for the wrong reason.

That too and the fact that the rings were destroyed, and they had to rebuild 7 of them, costing more time. You think they would possible be "Hey maybe we should skip out on the terraforming part."
But that's just me.

But the vastness of their resources, they controlled millions of worlds, most of which I assume had to be terraformed. I feel like their terraforming process was far more advanced then we can imagine.

It's not camping, it's holding the designated location.

They had to have plants for oxygen and it had been left behind for like 100,000 years so their is sure to be weather and erosion.
