Really, people need to stop suggesting "nuke the forum" as a "solution". I suggested it once in context of getting people's attention to a serious lack of basic decency in that forum. That pinned post was removed a long time ago because people generally got the message. If I recall correctly, that was nearly two years ago.
Now, it seems everybody's a backseat community manager. The Flood (and any other forum) gets nuked only if Bungie decides we don't want it any more. It is still here, so you can probably conclude that think it serves its purpose.
But as I told the person who called me a hypocrite and an ass - he represents exactly the reason why I treat users of that forum differently. I suggested that someone not go to the Flood if they didn't like it, and someone from the Flood yelled at me for essentially defending the current state of that forum. Really? I don't know how some of you come up with this stuff. The contortions you must go through to rationalize what you say must be very complex.
I am a member of the Flood like some people who have visited this thread and I think it is a little unjustifiable to judge us all by some troll or rather rude future delinquents. Basing it on that, I could assume (since this my first visit on the Bungie community forum) that all forumers in this area are whiny people who can't ignore other forums.
But as appealing as nuking the Flood may seem, that would cause Bungie.net to lose a large sum of people and it would be quite tragic. The Floodians can be bearable if one were to live there like I have and understood their prime motives. The Flood can engage in intelligent commentary about many topics and I have indulged myself in information from the threads.
Thanks :D
Just remember sometimes the few ruin it for the many. Most people will base of those trolls or rude members rather than the others, espically if they don't see much of one side often.
