Furthermore, everyone needs to learn to take the Flood with a grain of salt and some good grace.
The truth is, you're in the wrong if you go to the Flood with the expectations of holding a fully serious conversation. It's an off-topic forum on a video game website. It's not meant for serious discussion. That's why relationship advice or political threads are against the rules. Not because it's "inappropriate conduct" or something, but because given the nature of the forum goers (as well as the majority of the internet itself), the results aren't going to be ideal.
But that's not to say no conversation can be taken seriously. You can start a thread about some hypothetical scenario, a question about games, a music poll and so forth and get largely genuine responses. And yes, you will inevitably get trolls who decide to post "lol creed rulez" (well, it's debatable whether or not they're trolls or if that's just the vernacular of the typical Creed fan), but that's all expected and part of the experience. Doesn't the description for the Flood say "approach with caution" or something? Seems that's all you really need to know. Would you criticize McDonalds for not selling sushi? Would you criticize Bob Dylan for not having a voice like Freddie Mercury?
And come on, would you really want McDonalds to sell sushi?
