Now, in the quantum moment before the closure, when all become one. One moment left. One point of space and time.
I know who you are.
You are Destiny.

Since the classifieds is pretty much dead, this wouldn't have much of an effect on people anyways. Contrary to your blinded beliefs, the Classifieds plays a larger role than what you've lead yourself to believe. The Classifieds - as 'dead' as it may appear - is still significantly large. The purpose of the forum isn't to discuss per se, but to advertise. Just yesterday there were well over one-hundred new threads. You don't know the statistics on the average page views The Classifieds receives. If it was truly dead, the Webteam would have shut it down ages ago.
All it would do is add a few game invites to relevant game forums, and some community/group invites to the community forum. You still don't understand how widely and often The Classifieds is used and read. Removing it now would only make everything disorganized and rather confusing.
Groups are failing, and it's difficult to bring the group community into the public forum community since they're limited to the Classifieds, which has a population of people who only want to advertise their own group exclusively. Allowing group ads to a stickied community topic, or the forum itself, would bring the public and private Bungie communities closer together and hopefully spark interest in groups. IMO, only groups that were built to fail from the beginning truly fail. Close-knit communities is what's keeping the Chapter system alive and not worthless.
The purpose of The Classifieds is to advertise, which on the receiving end, no one really cares about. People will only look for what they are interested in - they could care less about some random Chapter or clan recently created. If the group doesn't have any potential to grow and succeed, then it will eventually get shift+deleted because it was invaluable. Worthless, some may say. The true problem is people are not putting forth any actual effort in making sure the group is successful.
As for game ads, no one is going to find an MM buddy in the classifieds. It's dead. Someone trying to find someone else to get nostalgic and play some Halo 3 would have better luck posting in the Halo 3 forum. After all, its a forum for the needs of the game's players. Same goes for the Reach forum, but in a sticky due to high traffic. (This plan could have worked for the ODST forum if it were confined to one thread).People find Matchmaking buddies all of the time, and when I needed it, I was able to find teammates rather quickly.
In the end, removing The Classifieds is obviously an idiotic move which would only make things worse, rather than better.
