does it even count as canon? as think its been mentioned around here that HALO4 takes place 5 years after halo 3 but the encyclopedia states that many continued the search for MC decades after his "DEATH" so that could hint at a couple of things MC never returns to humanity even after the new trilogy finishs or 343 are going to go against bungie endorsed lore (that never happens) personnally i think the end of the new trilogy will end with MC doing the old heroic sacrifice thing.

Don't be stupid like I was! Check to see what that Forum Ninja is saying to you!

Yes. However, some of it is incorrect and/or retconned.

they keep looking for him because they never found him...

way to say the obvious grey. my wondering was if the encyclopedia was canon as it states that they havent found him after decades which if 343 stick to that then the new trilogy is set much longer after halo 3 then first thought or that the chief never makes it home (dies) during at the endingof halo 6

Seeing how 343 did make it and did advertise it i would like to think it is canon. We are all going to co by the info in the book so i don't understand why they would make it or parts non-canon.

There's always a retcon. ALWAYS.

well thats just it if they stick to it then we can already guess that chief wont be making it home. and if they dont then they'll be screwing over canon again! surely hey cant make it that he gets put back into stasis again thats been done and i hope they're more original in the trilogy's ending.

p.s where in the encyclopedia does it state 343 contributed to it etc?

It's a metaphor for the 07s' lack of identity. too old to be newfag, yet too new to be oldfag, we wander b.net in search of a home, forever trying to be something we are not.

Agreement with this general statement coming from my general location.

why is it not a good source? is the information printed on its pages not put there by the team who created the game/depth/etc
