Subject: Halo: 2 ... Remake? C'mon, 343. We all have nostalgia, don'...

Yes, I did make that mess. What are you going to do about it?

Well I would like a remake, but it would have to keep all the glitches like Super bouncing/ jumping, BXRing, Quadshots, all the good stuff that made the game great. I would play the campaign because I love the skulls, you can't just activate them after you found them and who has never liked it when MC has active camo like Arbiter? But I wouldn't pay $60 for the game, being remade by 343i doesn't make the play better, just the looks.

There probably aren't many people reading here, but I feel as though I should speak; there are others who feel this way.

The spirit of a specific game is not just its story or its gameplay. Halo 2 was a magnificent game; not just because of its mechanism or story (though in both cases it is stellar), but because of the time it existed. As much as I love the game, the climate in which it was released will never be replicated. The developers, nor I (who adore the game beyond words), will ever be able to bring it back into the similar spirit of which it was first released. This is not anyone's fault; the fault now only belongs to time itself.

I, and many others, would love for Halo to have a resurgence: but it wont; at least not the same way. There is room for the series to go forward; but backward represents nothing but a feeble attempt for us to cling onto something we recollect fondly, but in fact no longer exists.

I leave room to be proved wrong. I do not claim clairvoyance; only to have some experience. I hope I am proved wrong. I am certain that some funds could be raised by replicating an older game, but is that the right direction? The correct way is forward; even if we have an ardent longing for the past.

I love Halo. It will always have an extraordinarily special place in my heart. I will place myself blatantly next to whatever choice is made for the series; but sometimes the wisest choices are made from the heart and not the head.
This
I've played and loved every halo in their respective primes and still play each today. But I also can move on and enjoy many other amazing games. I can't really harp on people who'd want to play only one game the rest of their lives, but I do find it very sad.

Why all the drama? All we really want is H2 back on LIVE as a choice to play. Very simple, they took it off and us consumers want it back on.

I don't know anyone who only plays one game.

You know what Grumpy, you're right. My argument was more directed at the people usually using the argument of, "I would play halo 2 foreveeeeeeaarr then." Whereas you see it as any old computer/nintendo/etc game that you want available to play whenever.

The problem with this is the matchmaking has always been a service provided by a company in conjunction with that game. So where old computer games can continue functioning as someone dedicated to it hosts a server, console games' matchmaking cannot be run by someone else as microsoft/sony/nintendo wouldn't allow it. Otherwise you could easily get a company to host some matchmaking for a specific game. And microsoft/sony/nintendo have to drop this service to certain games because at some point it be comes a detraction from their revenue with so few people playing.

Yeah, most of us don't understand the technical issues with putting it back on live but we figure if they can do it with CE then our hopes are alive to someday have that choice.

Most of us here have other games we love but we are painted as fanatics by people with loose keyboards. H2 is my favorite but it's a tie with Metal Arms (I still play that game once in a while) and CE is a very close 3rd.

Yeah I don't know too much about it either, but I do assume it's probably meant out of greed. Think of it as they have now made all the money they can off of halo 2, as no one will subscribe to xbox live anymore due to that game. So while they are still increasing their revenue from new games (obviously as the company is still in business) they choose not to continue to put money towards halo 2 so all that money can also go to revenue now.

And remember that halo one's matchmaking isn't being brought back. Like not in any sense. I get that some playlists have altered physics to better resemble it, but in the end every map and every option halo ce had will not be there. It's just adding some cool halo ce-like stuff to reach.

Matchmaking is what we want, lol. Hmm, too bad.

Yeah whereas all they bring back is the campaign (although with new graphics and some chievos to meet the necessities of newer gamers/trends it is kind of cool). So in the end it would just be my opinion that one campaign being remade is enough. In fact I wasn't going to get it right away as I realized i still love playing the original and have no problem just using its graphics. But new DLC for a game I love right now is too good to pass up.

It does suck if it is only a greedy reasoning for removing a service that simply could have continued forever.

REMAKING this would be a bad idea. I mean, its not the GAME you want remade, its the mulitplayer (not saying the campaign was bad).
Maybe you could make an arcade game out of just the halo 2 mulitplayer. That would be genius!

  • 08.17.2011 6:35 PM PDT

remaking anther gamr will waste funds and could brng them closeer to barnkruptcy

Yup, I've got CMP and I'm happy with that. Just MP would be fine but I want to see if CE's online coop does justice to the game that started it all. Online coop intrigues me.

Walk by faith. Dude. Not by sight.

Halo 2 remake with achievements would be awesome.

  • 08.18.2011 3:12 PM PDT

they are remakin halo 1 because halo has been live for 10 years. and they want us to relive the granddaddy that started it all. plus id be pissed if they release a remake of the same game again and again

  • 08.18.2011 3:52 PM PDT

Why not remake Halo 2 and 3 together. They were both reasonably short. It will save them future time.

A halo 2 remake would be great. They don't need to remake halo 3 though. If they ever remake halo 2 I will have the perfect halo marathon. One where i can can enjoy it with friends over xbox live and i would finally be able to play halo 2 online again. Halo 2 was the best halo in my opinion.

That would actually be kind of smart. The overall campaign would be very long but the campaigns do flow into each other pretty well.

This is a Reach account that I created the day they announced his name in a bnet weekly update. Any stats regarding ODST or Halo 3 are irrelevant. Also, Halo CE master race. Halo 1 > other halo games > other games.

Account Status: Silver :(

No, they shouldn't. What's Next, In 2017, they are going to have a Halo 3 Remake? I Don't think so. Oh wait, I Just heard that they are going to make Halo Reach Remake in 2020! They should only remake Halo CE.

I agree. There are too many remakes, but CE is the perfect game to remake since it's the greatest shooter of all time. If anything they should do a spinoff about the flood vs forerunner war and creation of the halos.

Re-release the game on the Xbox 360 format and up the server so we can play online again. No need to remake it. Just refurbish it back on the 360.

Its better to burn out than fade away...

nothing comes easy....think about it ;)

i want a remake because i never got to play CE or 2. since they are on the original xbox it would be nice to have CE, 2, 3, ODST, wars AND reach all on one console, a nice collection of (imo) the best shooter ever made, all on the same console.

i would love to experience CE and 2's campaign as i love the story line for halo. i dont understand people wanting halo 2 to stay untouched as i never got the chance to experience it, it sounds pretty damn amazing, more of a reason to look forward for a possible remake for the 360.

just my 2 cents
