Subject: The Didact.

"It will not be we who reach Alpha Centauri, and the other nearby stars, it will be a species very like us, but with more of our strengths and fewer of our weaknesses, more confident, far-seeing, capable, and prudent. For all our failings, despite our limitations and fallibilities, we humans are capable of greatness."-Carl Sagan

I have a feeling he'll hunt down the master builder and kick the -blam!- out of him in.

I always thought he was wanting to grab Riser and ram him up Chakas's ass.

He seem like a distant psychotic to me. Did anyone else feel this way about him?

We are all going to get banned aren't we?

I don't understand where you got that feeling from.

And there is a divide whether he is alive or not

He meets with the Librarian in the next book, Greg said at Comic Con.

He just seemed distant to me, he has hidden motives I think.

He's a tragic character isn't he.

Locked up for 1000 years and some dumb kid wakes you up then you find out his wife is sending him on errands.

Doesn't matter if you're Human, Precursor or Forerunner us guys can't get a break.

The Didact (as I've come to know him) is best represented in the Terminals.

One hell of a badass forerunner commander with a soft side.

I hope the next book dives in to the relationship of Didact and Librarian.

How a Promethean got together with a Lifeworker is a story in itself.

******SPOILER ALERT**********

The original didact was put to death. Now only born remains with the imprint of the didact, effectively making him the didact. He already met up with ms. Know-it-all librarian near the end of the first book.

A Forerunner consensus?

So the Didact in the terminals isn't the Didact instead it's Born with the Didact's memories.

To answer you question, yes. The didact in the terminals is born with the did acts vastbtactical knowledge and memories. It's basically like having two beings in one body. Coincidentally born also looks like a perfect mixture of both himself and the didact. But somimagine being this no body kid who because ofnyour curiosity gets to become the prime military leader and last hope of your entire race. Heavy stuff...

I heartily agree with the parts of your post that do not make sense.

What? As far as we know he was still alive at the end of cryptum.

From pg. 253
I had worried that the Didact might have been executed. Now...he was in power! Not in exile, but restored.

Unless I'm missing somehing.

You're missing something. Born became the Didact through absorbing his memories, and therefore they are talking about HIM being placed in power. Ohyeah, and Didact was executed by the Master Builder.

Aww yeah, just like in all of those cool totally not-lame Hollywood action movies where the main character says a cool line and then kills the bad guy.

"After an exile of a thousand years, the Didact has apparently been placed in charge of Forerunner defenses." "He asks for Bornstellar."

Why would the Didact ask for Bornstellar if he already is consumed by the Didact's memories?

What a waste....

I like his name in general. I mean, he's called the Didact, and guess what he finally did? Act!

  • 07.27.2011 5:51 PM PDT

I am alpha, i am omega.

I am the last of the primes.

Didact is a jerk, he killed my ancient family and de-evolved us...

He can eat -blam!- and die for all i care.
