Well, I just beat Reach legendary solo. It is an amazing achievement. Halo 3 was co-op done, and Ive still got ODST to do. Wars was simple.

Yet, my first halo game ever, I have yet to finishin on anything but easy. I know many will find this hilarious, but I was 9 when I started and was trying to snipe the prohet of the regret.

Now I will begin my epic quest, just as Grumpy did, totallymassive, SameTheWeebo, and many before me. I want to say I beat Halo 2 on legendary. Wish me luck, and please post tips! Its going to be a hell of a ride.

Halo 2 for Life!

run when ever you can, fighting should never be your first option.

If you have to fight, i.e. on Cairo, get a Plasma Pistol and BR and then run to cover. Then play a game of strike and run.

It will take some time to prefect and you'll to do it at a distance as they will throw very accurate grenades and their fire will also be very accurate.

You might become frustrated during points, especially at the start but once you get a certain pattern down on how to defeat the enemy and get to other areas it will get easier (your difficulties will lead you to victory eventually, just keep at it and give it a fair try)

then again listening to me might not be the best of ideas (I completed it last a few years back), Grumpy1 would be the best source of information about campaign.

Ah okay. I remember trying it a while back and made it to hangar two, but alas ran out of ammo and grenades as the elites hid behind those damned shields...

Halo 2 legendary was pretty easy.

Once you learn where the Jackle snipers are and that the flood die to "head" shots in the chest it becomes quite easy.

Here's how to get used to Jackal snipers. Limit yourself. If you can't reach them, frag them.

This

I find Reach and CE to be the most challenging ones. There is no secret trick (noob combo) in those games, you have to outwit the AI.

If you havn't played Halo 2 online than you are missing so much. Plus if you have played a good amount of Halo 2 online, I might have a better chance of listening to anything you say.

lol at you thinking CE on legendary is hard. To this day Halo 2 is the only Halo by Bungie(never owned Halo Wars) I have not beaten on Legendary by myself. Noob combo won't get you through everything, especially the silver elites which have the strongest shields and most health of any enemy in the game.

I haven't gotten past Library on Legendary yet. To this day, CE is the only Halo game I've not completed on Legendary.

Noob Combo + Remembering Jackal Sniper positions is basically all you have to do. Plasma Pistol in H2 was crazy.

Dam, I miss the old days playing halo 2 with my old brothers in arms. Thank you my old friends for giving me this account, I shall continue our legacy.

Remember the plasma pistol is your best friend on legendary. Abuse it whenever you can, for it will save your life so many times on legendary.

On enemies with shields it is except the silver elites where it takes at least 3 to bring shields all the way down. Plus majority of enemies are not affected by PP.

Again lol that you can't be CE on Legendary. I was 9 when CE released, I was 9 when I beat CE on legendary.

Black Ops 2 I run two accounts warmup only at 1.97kdr...real is at 3.77. i'm in master division 4 league play. pm 4 clan inv...must have 2.5 kdr or better

I felt halo 2 legendary was a lot easier than halo 3 legendary solo.

Wat?

Noob combo beats everything man. 1 shot kill on Jackals and Grunts, and mostly 1 shots (with PP overcharge) on elites and brutes. You don't need it during the Arbiter levels though.

  • 07.28.2011 4:19 PM PDT

Hey man, haven't seen you for a while. If you get stuck, PM Sliding Ghost or womyfts, they're better than me and they have better tactics. One thing, when in sniper territory, get your own sniper and try to stay back. You can see them from further away than they can see you. Unfortunately that only works when you can stay way back.

Do the parts of my sentence about the silver elites not register in your head? It takes atleast 3 PP blasts to bring a silver elites shields all the way down. PP will not save you when there are tons of enemies shooting you at once, when you do not have a BR or carbine, when there are silver elites running after you, when you are fighting the prophet of regret, when you are fighting tartaurus, when you are up against vehicles, when you are fighting the flood.

Legendary H2 is a fun thing to do! Good luck with your worthy goal, you will get there, it may be in pieces and with less hair on your head, but it will get done!

Tips-

1) The PP and BR combo is the most straightforward combo for dispatching elites during the first few levels, especially CS. Before you activate that checkpoint going up the stairs to the first nasty hanger, make sure that you have hoarded all available PP's in the preceding areas to the spot at the bottom of the stairs.

Those hangers give alot of peoples fits due to running out of ammo, both PP and BR. This happens because when the covies spawn out of the boarding craft there are enough of them that it can be a real challenge to do PP/BR combos accurately. The PP overcharge finds its target but the BR rounds go errant as you duck from incoming fire. I find that if you get your plasmas and move to the cover at the end of the peninsula and CROUCH to avoid fire you put yourself in a great position to use the stickies on the elites as things calm down. You have to wait a bit for them to drop their guard, but when they do not see you for a bit they relax some. That is when you can crouch walk a bit to the side of the armor shield and lay a plasma on an elite. DO NOT WASTE PG's on silver elites as one PG does not always take them out. Wait until you have things thinned out and then PP/BR combo them from the normal end of the platform.

2) The only real diff between legendary and the other levels is the quantity of enemies that spawn and how easily they spook. Expect to fight more, and to have enemies come from spots that they did not come from before. The best way to proceed through maps is SLOWLY, let the fight come to you, because if you go looking for it, it is gonna find you in a hard butt-kicking way.

3)For your first run through on legendary, DO NOT PICK UP ANY SKULLS. You will only make life harder on yourself for the most part.

4) The flood on Legendary are almost overpowering. You really have to plod through those levels and pick your weapons carefully. The shotty is almost useless compared to CE, but the sword will save your butt endlessly. The reverse is true, take out all sword wielding flood first, and from a distance, then at least pick up their sword and swap it right away so that valuable flood killing wonder doesnt go away on you.

5) Dual wielding in my opinion is of limited value normally, but the SMG/PR combo can do alot of damage. It appears that you have that annoying rise in SMG full auto only when you wield two of them, pair it with a PR and you can go full auto without the rise. Even more useful against elites is to DW the two, and use the PR alone in one hand till it overheats then fire the SMG while it cools down. The PR will deplete shields and the SMG finishes off. It basically allows you to continously fire until you run out of ammo, NEAT!

6) Do not feel unmanly for either running backwards, waiting a while to figure something out, dying six times in a row in a short time, reverting to last saved checkpoint or just plaing pooping your pants. H2 is a royal pain the the arse, and is meant to be that way, but once you finish it, you will appreciate the game that much more, and can wear the badge of honor proudly!

l;abhrfiodj!!

Good luck man. Have patience. That I think is the best tip I can give. If you can't run through and avoid everything then camp and kill everything. Choose a target pop out of cover for only a moment take the target out and go back into cover to recover shields. Lather rinse repeat : )

Hey pal, glad your still around.

Also, just read your tips. Lol, I didn't know a PR/SMG combo would cease to rise, that makes a big diff. I learn something new in this game all the time.

Sometimes, I dream about cheese.

practice sniping, headshots is a necessity when engaging jackal snipers. you need to be fast and accurate, it will be hard at first but keep practicing and you'll get better.

dont fear the hunters, they are actually one of the easiest enemies to kill. a single sniper/beam rifle round to their orange fleshy core will take them out.

ALWAYS give allies heavy weapons, they need it more then you, you'll notice a reasonable rise in your chances of breaking through covenant waves with stronger allies.

the needler is useless against elites, drones and jackals, only good against flood and brutes IMO.

try to engage drones from long distances, they are quite deadly since they fly around and fire from all directions from such a high ROF.

instead of killing wraiths/scorpions, try to jack them if you're using a default hog.

make good use of the brute shot, even if it's out of ammo, its a good alternative for the sword because its blade does twice the melee damage of any other weapon.

charged PP then a carbine/BR headshot does well against elites

the only weapons i use against the flood are swords, sentinel beams, needlers and human weapons except for the sniper (snipers and all other covy weapons are useless against them)

brute will no doubt be the hardest enemies you fight, a sniper/carbine/BR works well against them since they dont have shields, you dont have to use a charged PP, the sword isnt a good weapon to fight them with because they are lethal in melee fights + it takes 2 lunges to kill them.

run when ever you can, fighting should never be your first option.

whenever your caught in the crossfire between covy loyalists, covy separatists, the flood or sentinels, just run through if possible.

cairo station, uprising, prophet of regret battle and the start of gravemind will truly test your skills, keep trying and you'll eventually succeed.
good luck :)

Halo 2 was the only Halo game i couldn't solo on legendary. It was extremely hard on COOP as well if you just went through it without jumping out the level. I hated the jackal snipers and the drones. ah Bungie why does every Halo game seem so mediocre to Halo 2 :(

Started on Friday, didn't spend much time on it. I blasted my way through the first part with ease; the Smgs tore through the grunts while my cannon fodder marines distracted the big ol elites. Moved into the courtyard area and went downt he stairs. Grunt was easy and assasinated the elite. Moved into Hangar 1 and got stuck.

Thanks for the tips everyone!
