Subject: Setting standards

Why do people in ship mutinies always ask for "better treatment"? I'd ask for a pinball machine, because with all that rocking back and forth, you'd get a lot of free games.

Maybe in order to understand mankind, we have to look at the word itself: "Mankind". Basically, it's made up of two separate words - "mank" and "ind". What do these words mean? It's a mystery, and that's why so is mankind.

The trust rating is not accurate.

I have encountered some Mythic members (highest titles) that act like -blams- to people.
Come on now, be honest.

Don't I seem trustworthy to you?

Let me give you $10,000 of my money to invest.

Why would you expect better from me? I am not a role model people.

I have given up setting standards for people's behavior. I see no point in it. If somebody feels like acting like an ass then go for it.

I expected better from you.

In the end if somebody feels like being a total tool then why should it bother you?

It shouldn't. Unfortunately in the world we live in a lot of people have an agenda and want everyone else to conform to how they feel people should live.

I generally don't have any expectations other than when I see certain people post I know to expect a good response/something funny/ etc.

The only member on this website I hold standards for is myself. It's not my place to expect something from someone I don't know IRL.

Agreed.

The only individuals I hold standards to, are the individuals that I actually know. Not in real life, but my friends and acquaintances from Bnet. Titles and account age mean nothing when it comes to the quality of the user.

"Shutup dude you're like 42 years old"

For me it depends on people's posting history.

Like what has been said, if someone routinely posts intelligent comments, humorous comments, or jerky comments, I'd expect them to continue that trend.

Poorly, and with a screen-door style security system?

It's not usually a great idea to generalize people to begin with. I'd imagine that if titles were based on relative poster maturity, you might see a decent amount of change. As it is though, you just use your best judgment on a case by case basis.

Chief vs the scarab? I find that hard to believe to roundhouse boot the scarab's figurative emotion out of the gaming zone.

Judging any one person on anything but your own personal experiences with them is just pure ignorance. That goes not only for this website and the internet in general, but in life itself.

I lol'd at the absurd miscommunication that occurs whenever dibbs post something. Perhaps his brain is so highly evolved that he can no longer clearly communicate with lesser life forms, even among his own species.

With a title like "Webcam MVP" the only thing I'd trust you to do is to take your clothes off when asked.

The really good part of it? Is that if you are having fun while posting well and enjoying your time here, not only is your trust rating improving (and the title as a result), you begin to realize/understand that the REAL reward isn't a title or a colored banner. The real reward is that you're actually enjoying your time here and your interaction with other members of the community. -Recon Number 54

In some cases, I normally tend to look up to the higher ranking members as making more intelligent posts and whatnot, considering that most of them have been here a while and actually know what they're talking about. Now, that's not to say that normal members are without standards, because plenty of the "lower ranked" members are intelligent posters that simply haven't been here as long.

  • 08.01.2011 1:51 PM PDT

I wish people could hold up to the standard that the rules set. That's about all I think of when it comes to standards on here. That's why I kind of forum cop certain small things; they bother me when I see it, and it's below the standards I hold to forum users.
