I used to go around the World of Warcraft forums a decent amount around a month or two ago and I came across a feature that I thought was rather useful. The feature I'm talking about is, just as the title says, jumping to your last read page. However, I thinking jumping to the last post would be more useful.

Regardless, it works by adding an arrow right next to the thread that brings you to the last page that you read in the thread. Like I said before, I think going to the last post would be better, but either would work.

The benefit would be seen in faster moving threads like those in the Flood or Reach forum.

I know my typical response to threads like these are, "Does the time it takes to implement this feature out weight other things they could be doing?" And I would probably answer, "No." However, I think the feature could be useful and something to look into if it isn't that hard to implement.

When I grow up I want to be bitter and spiteful.

As an automatic feature I would have found it annoying however your arrow idea seems to provide more help than hindrance.

*Like Button*

This would be an awesome feature, maybe then I wouldn't get discouraged in reading large threads. I really don't think the last post idea works, simply because our posts aren't segregated by a completely different URL (while still being reasonable).

Actually, come to think of it -- how about a button you press? Over by the three shortcut links we have now. This would basically just record the last page a member visits in a threads URL, then provide that information through how it's laid out over at WoW -- it's very nice.

Since it's a button, if you don't press it, you don't get the feature. To make tracking posts a lot easier, buttons on other members posts could be implemented. A simple *Mark* button or something of that nature. Which is really the only "plausible" idea I can come up with.

Just thinking out-loud, don't mind me.

The reason I think that the last post feature could work is that you can actually get a link to a specific post. See?

That's true, but if it's an automated system, how would it know which post you were on? There would have to be a button press for posts to work; threads on the other hand, could be automatic or manual.

Ah, I see what you're saying.

Ya, I guess you would need to "dog ear" the last post you were on or something.
