Why do people in ship mutinies always ask for "better treatment"? I'd ask for a pinball machine, because with all that rocking back and forth, you'd get a lot of free games.

Maybe in order to understand mankind, we have to look at the word itself: "Mankind". Basically, it's made up of two separate words - "mank" and "ind". What do these words mean? It's a mystery, and that's why so is mankind.

Is there more than one accounted for?

In a time long past, the armies of the dark came again to the lands of men. Their leaders became known as the fallen lords, and their terrible sorcery was without equal in the west.
In 30 years they reduced the civilized nations into carrion and ash. Until the free city of Madrigal alone defined them. An army gathered there, and a desperate battle was joined against the fallen
Heros were born in the fire and bloodshed of the wars which followed and their names and deeds will never be forgotten

This contest sounds familiar, XD

Although I like the idea, the fact they were put in swag bags kinda makes me upset.

Who got the swag bag were the people who had the least life and could hit F5 the fastest.

I thought a better way would of been to choose 7 people randomly from the Beta tester program but I don't make the rules.

Not to mention multiple bags.

Of course, Bungie knows where their orders were going, so it's not like they couldn't pack accordingly.

Or the people that were the most dedicated to get a bag by staying several hours on the computer trying to get a bag.

Kind of makes sense that the people that are dedicated to get the bag are dedicated fans which would be the perfect applicants for the competition.

And how do you judge if someone has a less of a life then another?

Ehhh.... That could still result in undedicated people receiving a trip. However, I hope people who actually deserve it got a ticket and congrats to them.

Yeah, no kidding. I hope he worded that wrong.

I guess I'm not a dedicated fan because I didn't have $30 at the time or a Amazon account.

No, I'm say that people that were dedicated to get the bags would be dedicated fans. Which is one way to classify who is a dedicated fan.

You are looking at it the other way. Not getting a bag doesn't mean that you aren't a dedicated fan. It's just that whoever put in the hours waiting to get a bag would make you a dedicated to get the bag, which probably makes you a dedicated fan.

Edit: Simpler format. Getting a bag = most likely a dedicated fan. Which would make sense to put it the bags so that dedicated fans could get it. Just a way to classify who is a dedicated fan.

Not getting a bag = still can be a dedicated fan. Not getting a bag doesn't classify you as not being a dedicated fan.

It says no purchase necessary. But if they only come in bags, then purchase would be necessary, no?

Trying something once will increace your chances of success, because you tried it. Try someting twice, and your chances increase yet again - seeing as you've done it. Try something a few thousand times, and your chances of success is exponentially increased; this increase would likely provide success every time

In my opinion, these are two different scenarios.

Bungie vs World was a contest towards those that already owned Halo Reach; Bungie wasn't trying to sell Halo with the contest. Thus, those who knew about it and were interested in it, already owned Reach.

This on the other hand, the only known ticket is VIA swag bag. Seeing as the person purchased the Swag Bag, and its contents, they would have to put purchase necessary.

Which makes me believe there's going to be another way, especially considering we're a little under a year out from the actual contest.

There's a difference between being dedicated to buying a product and being dedicated to Bungie.

Really, you shouldn't be dedicated to either.

All that means is that you don't have to purchase the ticket specifically itself nor the prize that the ticket gives you access to. It's a legal thing. Don't look too deeply into it.

That's what I was thinking. Perhaps in the future there will be new methods of obtaining a ticket.

I like how this background image differs from this image.

But you are purchasing the ticket if they're only in bags. If you are not allowed to share your ticket with anybody else (as per the rules) and you have to have purchased a bag to get a ticket, then a purchase is necessary in order to qualify.
No?

You right, there is a big difference.

Just like having a Bnet account doesn't make you a dedicated fan, nor does signing up for a Beta program. I would hate to see Bungie with a giant wheel of the names of everyone who has a Bnet account, or has an account to sign up for the beta program and then pick 7 out to be the winner.

Or if they just picked the 7 people they liked from the forums to be the winners. That would probably be the worst decision.

I would consider that people that were dedicated to buying the
"Bag O' Swag" product to be rather dedicated, which would most likely be a dedicated fan.

Plus the people buying the bags understood they had the opportunity to win something quite amazing.
