Trying something once will increace your chances of success, because you tried it. Try someting twice, and your chances increase yet again - seeing as you've done it. Try something a few thousand times, and your chances of success is exponentially increased; this increase would likely provide success every time

Read this in the article, how interesting.
By participating in the Promotion, Entrant consents to the Sponsor's use of his or her name, photograph and/or likeness, address, voice, and statements by or attributed to him or her, in perpetuity, in any and all media now known or hereafter developed (including without limitation, print, broadcast and Internet), for all business purposes including advertising and promotional activities without additional compensation, notice or approval, unless prohibited by law
In any and all media now known or hereafter (video game?), which includes the use of their voice, likeness, etc. Could back up the idea of being linked to seeing, and maybe contributing, e.g. voice to the new IP?

Sounds more to me like allowance for being in a ViDoc or something similar.

Could be, well, anything is possible at this stage.

The beta is super awesome. RogueAssassin27 is now the person who got my Totodile's nickname. Hoo-hah! Relevant.inb4lock

I'm not sure if everyone else notice this, but did you notice that the rules say each ticket contains a one-of-a-kind prize? That means that everyone is going to get something unique and different. For example, a punch to the face by Jerome so you can proudly put it in your college application.

It says no purchase necessary. Which means anyone should be able to enter. Yet you had to purchase a swag bag to be eligible for the contest. Am I understanding this right?

Damnit Burrito for stealing my idea! For serious though, that doesn't make any sense. I would like someone to at least try to clear this up using translated legalese. That would be nice.

'Home is behind, The world ahead, And there are many paths to tread, Through shadow, to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight, Mist and shadow, Cloud and shade, All shall fade, All shall...Fade'
Reiginko

I think when it says "No purchase necessary", you are not actually paying money for the ticket. Like a lottery ticket, would be "Purchase Necessary". Where a game ticket like this or ones that come off of the cups at Burger King or Mc Donalds, there isn't a Purchase for the ticket, it basically comes free with the drink or meal.

At least, that is how I think of it.

Hello! I'm Bunie.net's resident medical student (hell i'm sure there are more but I'm the only one who openly declares it!) I love my emblem, and I am periodically active.
I have a Twitter

This is interesting, how exactly do we take part?

  • 07.29.2011 12:20 PM PDT

Wait, I'm reading that you go to that page, get a ticket, and then they notify the winners that day? I may have missed something...

No, you can't have it. But thanks for asking!

This guy got it dead on the head. I also wanted to add, the 17 and up stipulation is pretty well standard for all sweepstakes, it doesn't necessarily mean anything about M rated games etc in the future.

I want to officially throw this out here, so that people can quit worrying/asking/salivating over it:

There is not one single thing, including the stickers, which I would ever sell from my swag bag, period, end of story, discussion done, 10-4 over and out. Including the golden ticket.

Just for a little perspective, and maybe something that's been overlooked here--I bought the swag bag not because of the chance for something extraordinary, but for the chance to show support for The Bungie Foundation, and for the immense generosity of the gaming community.

These were for charity, and if some people got incredibly awesome swag, that's great, but none of us should have ever expected anything other than thirty bucks worth of a chance to help out children in crappy circumstances. I am deeply grateful that I was one lucky wench with this swag bag, but I was thrilled with it even before I opened that folder and saw what was inside. What made me happy was being able to belong to a community that gets important things done, not how cool or rare the items in the bag were. If that makes some of you think of me as less hardcore of a fan, well so be it. My loyalty is to the gaming community as a whole, and then to the companies and groups like Bungie, Penny Arcade, and Rooster Teeth who make it so personally enjoyable. I might be naive, but I think if more of us wanted to make a difference, we'd move mountains with our might.

This particular "sweepstakes" or "giveaway" is restricted to current owners of (The Swag Bag). No additional purchase is necessary to enter this sweepstakes, and any current subscriber/owner may enter completely free of charge.

This general idea can even be applied to sweepstakes that are purportedly open to "the general public." Using your misleading and overly restrictive interpretation, even those contests are not REALLY open to the general public. Much like RT noted, a radio "7th caller wins" or whatever contest requires the entrant to have a telephone to be eligible, but does not require the purchase of a telephone in order to win. Even a sweepstakes that lets you write in on a postcard to enter for free is eligibility-restricted only to those who have a stamp, or who are literate.

At any rate, you're conflating the two factors of "eligibility" and "consideration," which is what's leading to your confusion.

Gah. Bummer. Once in Europe, another in Madison registering for classes. Missed all the Bag openings. Sucks that it's screwing me over again. Ah well though. I look forward to seeing what comes of it at any rate!

While I agree, there's nothing saying that Bungie's (not) going to give out more. Looking over the rules, yet again, it appears that there's two parts to the contest. Get ticket -> submit for possible win.

All in one years time, why give all the tickets out now a year before they mature? It doesn't make much sense from a business perspective - whether you're looking for loyalty or not - a year is a long time to hold onto something that's basically a piece of paper.

Now, in the quantum moment before the closure, when all become one. One moment left. One point of space and time.

I know who you are.

You are Destiny.

Interesting. I'm curious to see how this will play out soon.

+1 Bungie.

Bungie you are awesome.

However I doubt Bungie would put all the tickets in the Swag Bags. I think throughout the next few months, Bungie will hold special mini contests of somesort and someone may get one of these golden tickets.

Make choices, and don't look back.

I think that it is going to be a paid trip to Bungie Studios for the unveiling of their next project. That's just a guess though. I guess this is what urk meant when he said: the best bags are yet to come. It'd be sweet if they sent one in their other merchandise, like with a poster or tshirt or something ^_^
