Hey,

I recently found out that I can play system link games with halo through my college network by just plugging my xbox straight into the connection coming into our dorm room. The problem comes in when I try to use my router. I use my router to play XBConnect games, and be simultaneously on the internet and on Xbox Live. My router, which is a DI-604 works just fine for those two instances, but for some reason my router is preventing me from seeing games on my college network. And this is somewhat complicated by the fact that an Xbox isnt assigned an IP address. I tried messing with the router configurations to let traffic coming from any IP on the WAN to and IP on the LAN for ports 3074 and 88, and that didn't seem to work. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Oh, and along the same lines, I can't see other computers in my dorm's workgroup either(because of my router) and I dont know the ports for that.

Thanks for assuming my problem is with XBConnect...IT'S NOT. XBC and XBox live work FINE, but the system link games do not appear, instead it continually shows "Looking for games.."

I did the same thing in my Dorm room 2 years ago, but I had a hub not a router. My problem, and this sounds kind of odd yes was just that my xbox and pc had to be plugged into the router a specific, but random way. The best way to figure it out is have a friend create a system link game on the network. Turn on your xbox, and see if its there, if not unplug and reposition the xbox to another port in the router and then see if you see it. Continue moving the xbox cable, and pc cable until both of them work. Hope that makes sense, im too tired to read back through it. PM me know if you need any clarification.

You are probably trying to plug your connection from the school into the WAN port of the router. Try disabling DHCP on the router than plug the connection from the school in to the LAN side of the router.

If you need me to explain further feel free to PM me.

Ok, I tried every combination of changing the cords around, and that didn't work, I honestly didn't think it would though. I have already disabled the DHCP because i read somewhere about that and gave that a shot, BUT I did not try plugging the school into the LAN side of the router, so I will try that. Thanks for the help.
