Subject: Why Halo 3 and ODST are better then Reach.

Vengeance only leads to an ongoing cycle of hatred.

but OP 100% on the firefight experience, ODST = teamwork. reach = I NEED CREDITS NOW!

I just recently got another copy of ODST since my other scratched. Anyway, I have been playing a lot of FF lately and it's much, much more difficult then any FF I've played on Reach. My friends and I always have to communicate and work as a team to get far.

I'm not making excuses. I never claimed to be good. I have never played any colonel better than me though.

I like FF in ODST but after awhile it just gets way too boring, it never is really hard.

I agree with the credit system statement. While it was cool to customize your guy and everything, you got rewarded terribly for good game play. The introduction of the level caps, and all that other bull, forget it. Ill take Sbipers on The Pit anyday over Reach. Halo 3 was my jawn piece. That or Halo CE. Pistol all day.

My problems [with Reach] are basically just full parties, mlg, and people who go out of their way not to get killed.

I find myself having much more fun on Halo 3 and ODST. In fact, (this is going to sound crazy to many people) I am getting addicted once more to ODST.

How can one be addicted to a campaign-only game? Simple: Be a Halo nerd. Seriously, if you love Halo half as much as me then you will thoroughly enjoy ODST. The game is really all about the little things adding up to one amazing Halo game.

The opening cutscene was awesome. Definitely one of the best cutscenes in all of Halo. Regrouping with your squad and discovering Sadie's Story at the same time was awesome. The two even intertwined with one another. At one point Sadie and Mike take refuge inside of an Oliphant that gets destroyed by a Wraith. You can see that Oliphant while exploring the city.

I don't know if I should bother explaining why I love ODST, though. Because if you get it you get it and if you don't you don't. Some people will read this and nod their heads in agreement and the rest will be considering me insane.

Going back to Halo 3 makes me realize how much easier it is to enjoy myself there as opposed to Reach. I can pretty much look at any map and smile knowing that the only issue I have with any of the maps are the weapons we start with (AR or BR).

Some of the maps are SO good that even AR starts will prevent me from vetoing sometimes. If AR starts on The Pit or Heretic shows up I will definitely second guess my initial thought to vote. And that is when you know you have a good map... is when a competitive player like me considers keeping AR starts in the name of a map.

Halo 3's Campaign was also epic. Back to back grand slams with The Ark followed by The Covenant. Two decently lengthy missions, filled with both vehicular mayhem, stunning scenery (Forward Unto Dawn descent, anyone?), and even close-quarters madness.

The push to stop Truth was also amazing and something I look back on and continue to play with fondness. Two Scarabs dropping in to defend him while the UNSC scrambles to stop him.

I might get the death penalty for saying the following but I'll say it anyway: I actually came to enjoy the mission Cortana. I know most people hate it with a passion and when it comes to level design it probably wasn't the best but that's not what mattered to me there.

Again, it is something I shouldn't bother explaining. Some people know what I am talking about. Although when it comes to the mission Cortana, admittedly, fewer people will agree with me.

I could type for days upon days about each weapon, enemy, engagement, mission, character, and still not be done talking about Halo.

Perhaps it is a nostalgia-induced love for past Halo games but that is irrelevant because I enjoy them more than Reach nonetheless. Who knows, maybe Reach will find itself in the shoes of its older siblings. Maybe I will look back on Reach with the same fondness I am currently giving to all of the other Halo games.

If the glory days of Halo are truly behind us and not to return with this new trilogy then I am just glad to have been apart of it. I will not be able to enjoy the new trilogy as much because of life's callings, but I hope Halo 4-6 can continue to be a positive note in many people's lives. :)

Banned and proud of it.

H3 I can understand, but considering how much of a ripoff ODST was that's streching it.

The only real problem I have with Reach is the multiplayer maps. I hate the sad excuse for maps made in forge world. Pulling the maps out of the campaign was an extreme disappointment for me. There is literally only 2 real maps that are suitable for big team battle. There is no map selection and all the forge world maps are the same imo. They should put them all in a seperate playlist and make some real maps.

Halo CE campaign made me buy Halo 2.

Halo 2 campaign made me buy Halo 3.

Halo 3 campaign made me buy Halo ODST.

Halo ODST campaign made me go back to playing Halo 3.

I bought Reach out of obligation, and it was ok, but to me it does not have the replay-ability of Halo 3, 2, or CE.

I have reserved optimism for Halo 4.

Honestly, I loved Reach. Most of the people on the Halo 3 and ODST forums will bash me for that, but I though it was a great game. I still believe Halo 3,Halo 2,Halo Combat Evolved, and Halo 3:ODST were far better though. Halo Wars... meh not so much

Halo: CE, Halo 2, Halo 3, Halo Wars, and ODST's FF maps are all great maps. Reach's are a poor excuse for maps just like the game as a whole - a poor excuse for a Halo game.

What house has a rocket pod, has legs, and has a long narrow barrel that probably shoots something powerful?

Sounds like you're describing the lower half of my body, actually.

How does a firefight that is customizable be worse than ODST's? "Oh well it is survival." You can make it just as hard if not harder than ODST's. You guys never ever make sense to me.

No I didn't like any of the ODST firefight maps they were copy and pasted from the campaign.

So are Reach's. Except they're not fun and boring as hell. It's the maps, the unlimited ammo crates, the lack of vehicles in maps ( One map has a warthog. the rocket hog. It sucks.)

It's just... not challenging. I can't think of the exact reason why, but it just doesn't feel the same at all.

You can take out the unlimited ammo crates. You can customize the damage resistance and how fast your shield regenerates. There was only one map in ODST that had the warthog. It was lost platoon. Reach has two if you count the DLC.

By the way you are putting it you seem to only venture to the matchmaking firefight. Matchmaking firefight=/= Reach's whole firefight. You guys are only criticizing the matchmaking firefight which is down right ignorant.

Its funny that you say halo 3 takes skill and Reach doesn't. Reach's assault rifle is way weaker than halo 3. so that takes a little longer to kill someone with that. Halo 3 has a super strong assault rifle compared to halo reach. I wanted to play halo 3 for old time sake and it was so easy to kill people online than halo reach. just a couple shots and one punch and boom there dead. halo reach almost a whole clip then a punch and there dead with the assault rifle. Also there is bloom in halo reach witch makes the game more realistic to shooting and makes it harder and take more skill. So im assuming you hate armor lock or bloom like all the other Reach hating kids.

I love the halo franchise and bungie and i know as long as another halo game comes out ill play it because i have faith in bungie to make a great game which they did in each halo game! and in each game there was something new to try out such as how the ranking systems changed from halo 2 with unlocks. and each halo game hasnt sucked just been different, all of the games are good just play them for halo and not an exuse to whine at a very good game.
