I love how whenever there's the slightest case of trolling loose in the Flood, the reaction is always some amalgamation of "the Flood is in a state of crisis" and "the mods aren't doing their jobs!"
For one, I think you all need to learn what the term "crisis" means. According to my computer's dictionary:
crisis
noun
1. a time of intense difficulty, trouble or danger
2. a time when a difficult or important decision must be made
3. the turning point of a disease when an important change takes place, indicating either recovery or death.
4. the point in a play or story when a crucial conflict takes place, determining the outcome of the plot.
1. Difficulty? Perhaps. For us, at least. But trouble or danger? Unless you have an allergic reaction to shock sites (in which case... I'd seek professional help), I think you're effectively vaccinated.
2. A difficult or important decision? Are you really in that much of a quandary over whether or not to press the report button?
3. "Unless you have an allergic reaction to shock sites (in which case... I'd seek professional help), I think you're effectively vaccinated."
4. Is this the real life? Is this just fantasy?
Secondly, you people act as though it's the moderators' "duty" to be on hand at all times to take care of these things. I'm sorry to have to break it to you, but the moderators are not the National Guard. As should be well-known by now, moderating B.net is simply a volunteer gig. There's no pay, duty or obligation other than that which is created by one's self. They do their work to the best of their ability, and if that's not good enough for you, why don't you step up and do your ideal job of moderation here-- leaving yourself on call twenty-four hours a day to deal with the most minuscule spat or problem here. Doesn't sound so reasonable any longer, does it?
Yet oddly enough, even in the absence of moderators, there's still a surprising amount that you (yes, you!) can do to help!
1. Most obviously, report. Even if there are no mods on at the time, they will still receive the notification (at least, so we can assume).
2. Also pretty freaking obviously, ignore. If you ignore a troll, it will go awa-- why am I explaining this?
3. And here's the really abstract one. If, after taking the actions of one and two, you are still just so personally offended by the trolls' actions that you feel a need to whine about it here, why not... uh... sign off? Leave? Do something else?

Please we need help. Than Anchrnos is going to go yell at us saying we need to clean up our act when it is probably 5 people. He wants to nuke us because of he is stereotyping that the whole Flood are a bunch of trolls that attack boards. He is blaming us for not moderating ourselves when we are constantly clicking the report button, while it is his fault for not controlling his board (Flamers going to flame).
So, have you paid any attention to Achronos' most recent thoughts on the Flood "situation"? I would certainly think it's not terribly difficult, seeing as there have been at least a dozen "omg the flood is in trubble" threads here in the past few days.

Some of you are not reading very well.
I don't want to nuke it. I never really did - as I explained, I said it once to wake you guys up to a basic lack of decency a few years ago. To your credit, most people got the message, and it was at least brought up to the level of the other forums. Goal accomplished, we moved on. Various others in several forums did not - they routinely bust out "nuking the forum" as a solution. That's kind of like breaking out a shotgun to deal with a pimple - it isn't really helping.
And I know full well that a lot of you just like chatting in there with your buddies, and you're not out to make trouble. You have to realize that I'm not talking about you. But unfortunately for you many users of that forum have a huge problem with any kind of authority and think that "offtopic" means whatever they damn well please. Combine that with a strange attitude problem some of them have (witness that "hypocrite" guy earlier) and you get my "cranky enforcer" attitude I have to take in there rather than the "benevolent overlord" attitude I try to take elsewhere.

I am a member of the Flood like some people who have visited this thread and I think it is a little unjustifiable to judge us all by some troll or rather rude future delinquents. Basing it on that, I could assume (since this my first visit on the Bungie community forum) that all forumers in this area are whiny people who can't ignore other forums.
But as appealing as nuking the Flood may seem, that would cause Bungie.net to lose a large sum of people and it would be quite tragic. The Floodians can be bearable if one were to live there like I have and understood their prime motives. The Flood can engage in intelligent commentary about many topics and I have indulged myself in information from the threads.
Thanks :D
