First of all I havent met anybody who said lawl what is book books are for nerds. And if this main fan base who supposedly has no idea what a book is, what is the point in even making halo books? And if these books werent for the main fan base how in the heck did it become a new york times best selling book. how strange that a book meant for supposedly a couple people could become a new york times best seller.

Your opinion of basing Halo:Reach off of the book would have been the exact same thing as making a movie off of it except a lot more expensive time consuming and would not have introduced anything new to the franchise.

Yes it is true grasslands is also continuing the halsey story line but what better way to promote grasslands than to have the precursor of it. Besides this imaginary main fan base of yours that doesnt know what a book is wouldnt buy grasslands because they havent read any other halo books.

Also its not forcing gamers to become hardcore gamers. They will be convinced after reading GoO. If people read Ghosts of Onyx they will say "gee this is a good book i wonder if there are any other books like this one oh wait there are!" then said gamer will buy other books (ie. First strike, Fall of Reach, The flood, Cole Protocol, etc.) turning them into fanboy and boosting sales for microsoft.

Lol love the arrogant wanker bit hilarious if your from britain. Fortunately im not from britain. and you still did not answer my question what is bugger all?

Have you even read ghosts of onyx? They arent even on the forerunner facility until the end of the book.So how did i imply in anyway that ghosts of onyx should be a game because it shouldnt be a game. As good as the book is it has a lot of dialog and halo games have more fighting than dialog. But its ok that it has a lot of dialog because its a book and it wouldnt be interesting book if it just bang bang bang of an assault rifle and no dialog.

The reason I assumed you were going to say there werent weapons on the ship is because you might have said "The part of the ship with the weapons might have fallen off" which then I would have to call you a retard and we would not be having a conversation anymore.

I dont use the quoting application on this site does that make me stupid? I wasnt being sarcastic.

1. If you haven't seen anybody say that you clearly haven't been on the forums long or asked your friends about reading a HALO book. I am positive there are technologies being made on the monthly if not yearly basis that nobody knows about yet that doesn't stop them from being made.

2. Other than the fact the game could have started when the planet was getting glassed or in the 2-3 week period afterwards. bungie just isn't creative and hates explaining.

3. you do understand the millions that play halo and the few thousand that buy the books points to a smaller hardcore community?

4.It pretty much is forcing if you are selling the same product for the same price along with stuff people might find better. Its like putting vegetables and candy on the same plate for a 8 year old.

5.I don't see how it is funny if you kinda get what he is saying and you do understand you can use google to find out right? so you are ignorant and arrogant, lovely.

6. now you look stupid because you are being serious.

Mike the Monsta I appreciate your ideas, but you need to research what your talking about. The majority of the people on this Forum are Hardcore Halo fans including my self. If a casual Halo fan doesn't want to spend a few extra dollars on a book, then they aren't cut out to be into Halo's universe.

That's not fair. So what if i got GoO from a library, and haven't returned it..........in a year.......and don't plan to. I still want to be a "hardcore" fan ( heh i said hard.........)

Yeah, if you actually retained the info. But if a person is so lazy to not be willing to go out and buy a book that's cheaper than the game, then that's a problem.

I am sorry maybe its just me who hangs with intelligent people who read books.

Lets see how fun a halo game is where there is about 100 people left on a planet and all those 100 people are hiding from a giant laser that is glassing their planet. That is what Halo Reach would have been like 2-3 weeks into the glassing. And since all of the UNSC has pulled back to earth there is no chance of survival at all. So the game youre proposing has a couple of scared marines maybe spartan that lost his nerve and hid from the covenant or how about a couple of villagers with some guns that get captured and you are continuously tortured throughout the game and there is no way to escape because you are surrounded by millions of covenant. This sounds really fun and very creative I'm sure that maybe someone more creative than bungie will take your proposal for that game and throw it into a fireplace.

Millions of fans play halo? Really? Go check right now see how many people are on Halo:Reach if its in the 7 figures category i will send you a million ms points. As much as we would like to think there are millions of people there is not. Lets be generous and say 300,000 people are on halo:Reach right now and lets be ridiculous and say 100,000 people are on Halo 3 and another 100,000 are on halo wars. That is 500,000 still not in the millions. Last time i checked there were 156,976 halo Reach players on bungie day this year. Bungie Day! that is when every single halo player is on reach at one time and unfortunately that is not millions. Last time i checked there were 16,000 give or take on halo 3 now and i have never seen halo wars above 11,000 people.

Its not forcing people you dont have to read the book if you buy the game. You have to eat your vegetable if your going to get candy to follow your analogy. Besides it would be a 70$ combination and not the 60$ version where you can just get the game. So you would still get the game alone if you wanted it that way. and as i said before ghosts of onyx is an amazing book and if you dont hang out with people who can read you may wanna look at yourself before criticizing other people

Why am I ignorant and arrogant? I know what im talking about otherwise why would i even be on the forums talking to people like you who want to argue against a money making strategy that would make the fanbase up to millions of people. Because you dont have to be a FPS fan to love halo books because halo books are so in depth and detailed and have some of the best stories I have ever read. So if somebody isnt a fan of FPS's picks up ghosts of onyx im confident that they would at least try out the game to see if they like it. Which would in turn make more money.

When exactly did i say fans dont spend that much money? If you looked over my post instead of just COPY........PASTE maybe you would have realized i didnt even say that. Again the deal would be Halo4=60$ Halo4w/ghosts of onyx and a flaming helmet or something=65$-70$.

Ever consider millions of people play Halo through the course of a day? Gasp!

Its not forcing people you dont have to read the book if you buy the game. You have to eat your vegetable if your going to get candy to follow your analogy. Besides it would be a 70$ combination and not the 60$ version where you can just get the game. Let's just keep the books separate.

Why am I ignorant and arrogant? I know what im talking about otherwise why would i even be on the forums talking to people like you who want to argue against a money making strategy that would make the fanbase up to millions of people. You can't start at Ghosts of Onyx, there are several plot points that require prior reading of the previous Halo books. If you want to pack a standalone book, go with Evolutions.

When exactly did i say fans dont spend that much money? If you looked over my post instead of just COPY........PASTE maybe you would have realized i didnt even say that. Again the deal would be Halo4=60$ Halo4w/ghosts of onyx and a flaming helmet or something=65$-70$.

Again, why pack Ghosts of Onyx? I know it's a cool book and all, but it doesn't set the stage for Halo 4 at all.

And you think majority of the world is intelligent? i have a higher IQ then my old math tech.

The game could have been about the skirmishes the UNSC were having with the covenant during those last weeks and probably worked up to buying the spartans time at CASTLE base. you ether haven't read FS or it has been awhile.

you need to check how much halo reach sold and divide that buy 60 and you will see how many people bought the game. i just did it and i was right.

70 dollars just for the game and book? thats really going to make people pre-order it.

Posted by: Mike the Monsta
You see grey 101 casual fans dont spend as much money so why not attempt to convert them and if my plan was followed than they wouldnt be casual anymore they would be hardcore gamers

yet they have an xbox, controller, several games (which normally cost 60 bucks), halo games, a tv, and internet if they play online?

yet they don't spend money?

  • 08.01.2011 2:26 PM PDT

Lol so you are saying that every 2.4 hours that a completely different 100,000 log off of halo and then in that same instant another different 100,000 people log on to halo and this goes on every single day which by the way would still be a million not millions. and i am the crazy one? If you do the math it you would realize it would be impossible for millions of people to go on to halo everday. I havent even seen COD with a million people ever either.

Then you say that you should not connect ghosts of onyx to its continuation grasslands at all. Why would they do that? If they packed ghosts of onyx with halo 4 they would be simultaneously promoting the new book grasslands while bringing new fans to the halo universe.

This is a legitimate point at the beginning of the book it could be confusing for some people. but if you keep reading you would realize that it goes off in an entirely different direction from any of the other books. So if you can get past the first two chapters you will be able to read the book. Besides if your intelligent enough you may even be able to infer some of the plot points. But apparently some of the fanbase doesnt know what a book is so i wouldnt count on it.

If you have been following the conversation than you would see that the entire conversation started off at halsey and the spartan 2's meeting chief on the forerunner facility.

Mike... He didn't say that millions play halo online right this very moment. With Halo 3 having sold over 10 million copies, and Reach having sold over 8.5 million copies...it is very reasonable to expect that MILLIONS play Halo, or, at the very least, there are MILLIONS of fans.

are you saying that the millions of people that bought the game don't play it because they don't play on live? since when does xbox live hold an account of the players that bought the game?

because glasslands ISN'T the continuation of GoO, you need to get updated. and for the last time majority of the would isn't intelligent.

  • 08.01.2011 2:50 PM PDT

"Glasslands will follow-up the events and characters from Halo: Ghosts of Onyx" You know thats just from xbox.com so how could Ghosts of onyx possibly continue the story of GoO so why dont you get updated before you start calling people out.

so youre saying that millions of people bought halo:reach just so they could use about 1/3 of the stuff on the game. they cant use matchmaking they might as well not use custom games and who are you going to show your forge maps to? nobody because you dont have live.

The information fo rthe 150,000 people on reach is not the playlist of people counter but the counter that says "150,000 people are on Halo:Reach. and in the event that just counts how many people are in matchmaking, that would mean there would have to be at least a million in forge half a million in custom games and half a million in campaign. Its ridiculous so how about you just get off the forums and get informed about things other than how fast you can -blam!-e?to grey 101

  • 08.01.2011 3:28 PM PDT

Your taking my stuff out of context. The reason is said the last quote was because he said that the main halo fan base doesnt know what a book is. Do your friends that play halo know what a book is? Mine do.

Ok so they sold millions of copies do you think that there is only 150,000 people with xbox live that play halo and there are at least 1.85 million that are offline players w/o live that play reach?

Please if there 8.5 million people with reach why isnt at least a million or even 200,000 ppl on halo reach. are they miscounting at least a million ppl? If you are suggesting that than maybe you should take that up with bungie or 343 that thats a bug they should fix

lol, frankie and karen elaborated on glasslands at comicon, there is even a podcast on them talking about it. you are the one that isn't updated.

are you stupid? i didn't start playing onlive until the last year or so of halo 3. There are alot of people that play halo for the campaign not to mention there are people that just don't have live.
you wouldn't understand since your parents buy you everything. And you act like people can have friends come over and play LAN; so you clearly weren't alive or thinking where CE came out because thats what WE did before xbox live.

Like i said before the people online does not equal the people that bought the game, how old are you? 10-12?

1. can i get a quote for me saying that? i remember saying people aren't intelligent and most will not buy a book based off a video game. i don't remember seeing anybody say what you are claiming.

quote or your making it up.

2. xbox live does not equate for the people that don't have live for the last time, not to mention there are people that just don't like live *gasps*. then you have the people that don't play often, sold the game, etc.

Too many factors but regardless atleast 3.3 million people played the game at one point.

how are you going to fix people that don;t play on live, sold the game, don't play? will your parents buy them internet and new games?

  • 08.01.2011 3:46 PM PDT

Actually I'm 17 so I was obviously alive when CE came out but the majority of the people that play halo have live. Xbox Live is not new and i didnt have it on the original xbox either.

So if youre saying that the majority of the people that have halo
are offline players than why not focus on the campaign making it a lot longer and more difficult than it is now? why even bother making reach challenges if offline players cant unlock them? why even have all of these different and creative matchmaking playlist when supposedly 3 million people play offline and only a tiny percentage play online?

It would be horrible business to concentrate so much on matchmaking and not enough of offline play.

All i am saying is adding ghosts of onyx to halo4 if halo4 has master chief meeting halsey and blue team would be a good business decision plus it would give people a chance to read a good book they havent read before. so goodnight goodluck and dont armor lock. btw im a field marshall dont trash my k/d because i dont think about k/d when i rush into battle.
