I've got a Compaq Presario 3500, 512 mb ram, 160 gb hd with 200 gb external hd, and an ATI Radeon Xpress 200 graphics with 256MB shared video memory card. Is my PC good enough to play Halo online? Oh, and I also have a cable connection to the internet.

the xpress 200 isn't your graphics, it's your motherboard chipset (type). That is more than sufficient to run HPC.

As far as I can tell, you gave us everything BUT the processor type and speed. We need that, if anything. I can't safely say that he can run HaloPC without any hint of what his processor type/speed is.

Right-click My Computer and go to Properties. That should bring up your processor type and (more importantly,) speed. Or be lazy and just check your physical computer housing for any shiny AMD or Intel stickers.

It runs fine on my setup:

Compaq Presario V2000 notebook computer
AMD Turion64 Mobile clocking @ 1.8GHz
ATI Radeon Xpress 200-Mobile Integrated Chipset
512 RAM
Windows XP SP2
60GB HDD

It'll run, but don't expect it to run at high settings. Get 1 GB of RAM and a better video card.

I've got a Compaq Presario SR1318NX 2.8 Proccesor, Radeon 9250 video card, 512 ram, Windows XP SP2, 200 GB Hard Drive, and Realtek HD Audio, so you should be able to play Halo with your computer.

hey mine's a Sony VAIO Pentium 4 3.0 Ghz processor with 512 ram, 200 gb harddrive, and some 224 mb Intel 9000 graphics/video card (basically all stock still). Plus I've got broadband. Any recommendations?

More ram, and a better videocard. If i were buying a computer the least i would get would be 1 gig. So upgrade to at least a gig of ram (buy another 512).

Also if your going to upgrade your videocard the lowest card i would get would be the 6600GT which costs about $150

You don't have to get those things but it would make it better. That system will play Halo fine.

any recommendations for a good game controller or do most people just prefer ye old keyboard? I'm buying a Thrustmaster Dual 2-in-1 because it kinda feels a bit like a cross between a PS2 Controller and an Xbox controller (which I'm more used to). Plus I'm getting cramped hands with the keyboard.....and I hate trying to aim with a mouse.

Do NOT, I repeat, do NOT play a computer FPS with a controller.

And that's final.. :p

Edit: If you don't want to get slaughtered that is.

hmmmm maybe this isn't the right place for the question, but why the heck not? Call this faulty logic, but I figure if I can kick butt on xbox using a controller, why not on a PC? Especially if the controller has a good configuration and feel to it

btw - maybe I'm just not used to it, but I'm getting my butt kicked now using the keyboard anyway.....hard to lead up my shots, mouse is over-sensitive, forget which button is which, etc. It's like re-learning to play the game all over again because I spend half my up-close and personal time messing up buttons while getting shotgunned in the face. I'm much more used to the feel of a controller with H2. Any advice?

If you use a controller on an online FPS, you'll get your ass kicked because everyone else will have an advantage over you. (mouse/keyboard has more accuracy than a controller)

guess I'll find out in a few days when the controller arrives in the mail......my friends all swear by the mouse/keyboard configuration too, but I've just never had any luck with it. Thanks for the help though.
