(NOTE: A lot of this stuff is from Halopedia, at least where I originally discovered it. This is all my personal opinion on the canon and stuff. Also, just to be clear, I absolutely LOVE the Halo canon)
All right. So Halo 4 is coming out in 2012. Frank O'Connor stated that in Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary, there would be terminals, which connect to the story of Halo 4.
Apparently, Karen Traviss is writing a new trilogy. The first book drops October 25th. The book is called Glasslands, and it deals with a squad of ODSTs. Characters from Ghosts of Onyx will return, as well as actual survivors from the Battle of Onyx. It will take place on the Sangheili homeworld. It will have things that tie into Halo 4.
Cryptum is the first book in the Forerunner Saga. In it, some SHOCKING details were revealed. Humans and Forerunners fought? Humanity was the first to encounter, and actually DEFEAT the Flood? And the Timeless One? It's actually the last Precursor. We found out what happened to the Precursors-the Forerunners rose up and destroyed them. We also found out that the Precursors actually MADE the Forerunners, as well as possibly making Humans. We also found out that the Precursors "answer" was at hand. What could that possibly be?
Primordium, the second book in the Forerunner saga is due in 2012. Halopedia has a small page on it, with some information about the book. The Palace of Pain? Mendicant Bias? And it's supposedly going to reveal more of the Precursor plan?
What does this all mean? A lot of people are skeptical about Halo 4 and this new trilogy, but if there is this much build up to the story(the use of a remake of a game, and TWO different book series') of Halo 4, then it's gonna be one hell of a game. I am really, really, REALLY excited and curious to see what the story turns out to be. Who will the bad guys be? What IS the Precursors true plan?
It looks like 343i and Frank O'Connor are really pulling out all the stops for this. They know they have to make a good impression with this new trilogy or people will lose faith in Halo. But if this much effort is being put into crafting this new story, then it has to be something epic that they're crafting up.
I know, I know. This is just a thread where I'm kinda sharing my excitement. But seriously. Is ANYBODY as excited for this as me? I love Halo, especially the story. It's really, really cool to see that the story is one of the most important things for 343i. I honestly want to see MORE of the story. I want massive, detailed, epic campaigns. If this truly turns out to be a fight against an evil that threatens not just the galaxy but the Universe, as stated in that small biography about H4, then when Chief comes back to "Finish the Fight" for real, it's gonna be a really, really big fight.
Tell me what YOU think of this new information.
