"Awesomeness will ensue..."

BEN SPARTAN120

With all the changes about to take place, like our beloved Halo moving out, the drip-feed approach to new info, the switching off/over of the game forums, etc, I'm left wondering what will happen to our B.net profiles.

To elaborate further:

-Our Avatars

-Our themes

-Our Halo 3/ODST/Reach stats

Avatars.

Perhaps this one might answer itself, given there are avatar items from previous Bungie titles, no longer in the majority ownership of Bungie, however, it still remains uncertain, at least for me, what will happen to the mostly Halo-themed avatar icons.

Themes.

These are mostly in the same vein as avatars, so I need not elaborate.

Stats.

Granted that Waypoint stats tracking is still in a beta phase, presently, I feel it offers a sub-standard experience when compared to Bungie's stat tracking capabilities, with as yet, no promise to change or improve. Furthermore, it only has capabilities for Reach stats, whereas Bungie still provides for both Halo 3 and Halo 3 ODST, even with a recent screenshots feature.

Ultimately, the question moves to whoever has the authority to answer it, but the bottom line is, 'What will happen to these B.net features in the coming days/weeks/months?'

I'm not sure if we're supposed to be prepped on this with an update, so If I'm asking this prematurely, I apologise. I also apolgise if it turns out I've posted this in the wrong forum, however I feel this is something that affects the B.net community.
-----------------------------------------

Today, August 2nd, 2011, Bungie passes the Halo torch to 343i. I still retain many mixed feelings about the whole affair, but ultimately, I know that it is for the best that Bungie moves on.

it's been one hell of a ride, and I've many a cherished memory of my time spent playing Halo whilst under the stewardship of Bungie. World Domination, though a solid end goal, pales in comparison to the journey both Bungie, and their mighty community, the Septagon [aka 7th Column] have undertaken together.

Whether you're a seasoned Grizzled Ancient, having followed Bungie from their very beginnings, Or if you came into the mix during the last ten years of awesomeness, we're all united by our passion for life, video games, cool stuff and pizza.

Very little stands between us, and World Domination, now...

The beta is super awesome. RogueAssassin27 is now the person who got my Totodile's nickname. Hoo-hah! Relevant.inb4lock

Should I lose my orange avatar, may God help humanity as it is.

I'm not sure if we will loose these features. As of now, Bungie still haven't confirmed precisely what will go and what will stay.

Thursday [August 4th] we will see what happens. I suspect that along with the ViDoc, we might get a few write-ups on the topic of whats going and what is not. :)

Wait. If everyone loses the ability to use their in-game emblems and avatars in the forums, there's more of a chance that somebody will start to use my current avatar. This is simply unacceptable.

I might have to change my avatar again?

This is why other users don't recognize me! :(

And on the seven7h day......

Well, I'll only be losing my theme if that happens, as I use the webmaster for an avatar.

EDIT: Nevermind, I use the Bungie shield for a theme. But I do like one of my Halo 3 themes a lot...

#1 Legendary ODST Firefight Highscore

[UNINTELLIGIBLE > INSUBORDINATION(?)]

But I want to keep my avatar! I earned it! D=

As for Group themes, the only one I have created, despite being halo related, is still a Bungie Trademark. (Superintendent FTW)

I really don't want stats to go. Bungie really mastered this system. User friendly, informative, Great for showing off, etc.

I am a Floodian

I haven't changed mine since a little bit after Halo 3 came out. I wouldn't know what to change it to.

Stats are definitely staying. And I imagine the web team has more important things to do than kill off avatars or themes.

Lol, perhaps try one of the dozen other Septagon themed avatars?

RIP Halo 2

I'm gonna be so pissed if my Halo 2 emblem is gone forever.

Case and point: don't worry about it. Girls start getting boobies pretty soon, and then you'll have plenty of other things to think about. Being an Inheritor is not a life goal.

The Doomsday Effect...
I don't have any attachment to my avatar. It is my Halo 2 emblem though. :/

This whole thing sucks . I want to believe in 343, and I honestly do . But I don't want my belief in them to make me sacrifice all that I've worked for.

READ IT.

I won the Star. With this on Week 18.

I believe all Halo stuff before a certain date (I guess August) can stay on Bungie.

That's the number of bans in this thread. Next time you want to derail something, go stand in front of a train.

I seriously doubt themes and avatars are going to go, probably the optimatch forum, maybe the Halo Reach forum, not all the Halo forums. Halo 1 and 2 PC is still there, even though they weren't ported to the PC by Bungie.
