Assuming they'll go ahead and let us come up with customized symbols for our characters, how do you think we'll be able to do so? Will they give us a simple drawing and coloring program with the game? Will we be able to import symbols?

I gotta say, I really love the idea. I hope they go through with it. It will definitely help to know who everyone else is without having to point right at them with our aiming reticle.

Just my thoughts,
Poocho :)

Just speculation on my part, but I'd bet they'll use some pre-defined emblems for those with no artisitc talent (me included) and maybe include a tool for making your own emblem. The importing wouldn't really work on Xbox, unless maybe they made use of the Action Replay, but since it's not a Microsoft product, I doubt it. Maybe they'll release new emblems via Xbox Live, and who knows, they might have contests for fan-created emblems.

I agree. I'm sure many either won't have the time or skill to create their own interesting symbol, so I'm pretty sure Bungie will take care of that. But I figure for the rest they'll have a simple design tool. I don't have much artistic talent, but I'd like to try my hand at creating an interesting symbol to represent me and me alone.

Well I for one have much artistic talent, and I would like for there to be an emblem designer like the one in Armored Core 3(I think I'm thinking of 3) I remember drawing ornate -blam!-s and -blam!-es and displaying them proudly on my mechs when I battled friends.

In Halo 2, I would make myself a Légion d'Honneur to proudly display. If by some chance I could have two, I'd have a Légion d'Honneur and a Couronne de Fer to wear, just like Napoleon had.

They probably have some premade ones that you can use and edit, and a simple program for making your own. You'll probably be able to save these on the xbox's hard disc and send them to friends with the new system or send them to your pc and/or make new ones on your pc and send them to your xbox

I'm guessing that there may be some basic maker thing. A very simple thing, with paint erase and color change. Nothing spectacular, but enough to make it personal.

The easiest way would be to create something on your pc. Then email it to a designated website. Upon approval from Bungie (due to graphics tendencies of some gamers), it would be made avaliable through downloadable content. The coolest feature would be making your emblem only avaliable to your specific clan members. That should be possible now that LIVE 3.0 includes clan creating features. Seems to make sense. The easiest for Bungie would be premade emblems... although those would become duplicated by teams very fast considering how many people will have Halo 2 for LIVE. Lets hope for custom insignias/ emblems.

How could it be easier to create something, then submit it, then wait for it to be approved, then download it, and finally use it, than it would be to just make it in the game and use it?

If they let people import or create thier own symbols there could be some problems. I'm all for free speech but would microsoft be ok with people putting racial slurs or curse words into the symbols? someone if they wanted could ban themselves with a swatsika. that really wouldn't be that cool. i know ratings can change on Live with talking, but letting people draw things and have them appear on live is simply a whole nother can of worms.

I'm thinking just like the avatars on this site, they will be pre-made and you can pick them. they'll probably add more as downloadable content.

I don't care what people put on their armor. Personally, I am hoping for a version of the Master Chief with urban camouflage. If I were going to design a logo, I'd make it the red NASA logo on top of white armor, cause I always wanted to be a spaceman.

Seriously, I'd use the orange Half-Life 2 logo and put it on my black Elite armor.

I really hope it's more customizable than we've already seen. There would be nothing cooler than to frag some Spartan clones as a black armor-clad Elite with sliver tribal decals on his armor, and an energy sword in one hand...
