Subject: So what is the new background anyway?

GT: BigstickToucan

My old Bungie.net account was created February 6, 2008. Unfortunately, I had signed up using my brother's email account (we then shared an Xbox Live account which was linked to my old Bungie.net account), and he changed the password, meaning I couldn't log in. Thus is why I have this account.

Not sure how much it has been discussed, but I've been wondering what the new background actually is.

Could the file name lower_neb.png mean something, or am I just over-analyzing it?

I see stars and really dark nebulae. Perhaps it's just a really dark overhead view of a mountainous area?

Looks like a planet a bit, I mean, the lower right side. Other than that it just looks like a bunch of lines. Could be linked to the new IP.

lonvm. Thought I was in The Flood.

It's easier on my eyes, plus I find it cool.

One of the most recent updates has a similar design with a compass. Pimps at Sea, perhaps?

Isn't it obvious, it's a map of the new game Bungie is heading for. It looks like a map of some kind of lost or secret treasure.

Lower = at the bottom of the page. Neb = nebula, presumably. There's also an upper_neb.png. Seems pretty straight-forward to me?

In one of Bungie's older games called Marathon, there were these soldiers called Bobs (Born On Board). They were human volunteers usually and when an area was clear of enemies, they would teleport off of the level. Before they would teleport they would say "See you star-side." I doubt that background has anything to do with Marathon. Although seeing Bungie bring back one of their older games would be pretty beast.

The enemy of my enemy shall die next.

I know the voices in my head are not real, but they have some great ideas.

Brown chicken Brown cow!

I see mountain areas, coastline, shallow shores.

I am imagining a clue to the new IP, i think an old world style adventure game, with links to an ancient civilisation.

possibly

I see a man bowing down to a porcupine. If this is any indication of their new IP I'm thinking it's kind of like Planet of the Apes, only more pointy.

It looks like a map or some sort of landscape to me.

And the Shadow fell upon the Land, and the World was riven stone from stone. The oceans fled, and the mountains were swallowed up, and the nations were scattered to the eight corners of the World. The moon was blood, and the sun was as ashes. The seas boiled, and the living envied the dead. All was shattered, and all but memory lost, and one memory above all others, of him who brought the Shadow and the Breaking of the World. And him they named Dragon.

My God. It's full of stars.
