but i find it hard to post in any thread other than ones in The Septagon. I'm sure activity will pick up sometime.

I agree with that other than my group of coarse. I can only reply to threads about modding, and superjumping and BBQ so many times. Thats why you pretty much have to graduate to groups to get away from the repetitive threads about the same stuff.

Its not always spam, it's just new people asking the questions we asked when we first joined. So there is a need for "old timers" to stick around and council the new. The Mods do a good job of this but they to get tired of answering the same questions over and over.

So I say it is a must to move on to a group that suits your style, but it's you duty as a member of the community to help where you can. Nobody wants to see a mod headbutting their keyboard..........well..........mabey.................

p.s. I prefer Hot Mustard sauce

theres not very many here that know my name.

Of course I do.

I've been around for a little while... plus my tag is kinda hard to forget.

I think forums move in cycles experiencing periods of activity followed by spans of inactivity. I could be wrong but that's the way it seems to me.

Precisely. I suspect that activity will never seriously decline in the long term for a long long time yet. However, as with any site, it will have its high points and its low points; such is life.

Isn't that the exact point of becoming popular?

I know a lot of ODSTs...*Grin*

The point isn't what they get from popularity. It's that they get the popularity.

It is the soldier, not the reporter, who has given us freedom of the press. It is the soldier, not the poet, who has given us freedom of speech. It is the soldier, not the campus organizer, who has given us the freedom to demonstrate. It is the soldier, not the lawyer, who has given us the right to a fair trial. And it is the soldier who salutes the flag, who serves the flag, whose coffin is draped in the flag that allows the protester to burn the flag.Father Dennis Edward O'Brien, USMC

Dont Laugh at being popular on the net!

According to the threads of the forums, B.net is simultaneously declining and ascending at the exact same time.

I think people are becoming confused here. The forums themselves do not decline of ascend. BUT, after a while people realize what the essence of the forums is. For the past few years, B.net has remained at a generally constant state, however, if you just joined the forums, you have no idea of this- you joined in the "golden age of prosperity" simply because you are taking your first rounds of the repetitive threads of many forums.

So this is where the idea of a so called decline comes into play. B.net isn't declining, your interest is the only thing spiraling downward. Take the forums for what they are, you'll start to appreaciate them more.

Interest can also be spread to other sites as previously stated. It keeps the feeling of longevity and exclusivity.

Try sites like
http://www.Subnova.com
^Very awesome
http://www.Halobabies.net
^Also cool
http://halo.bungie.org/

Just some suggestions, keep the interest alive! Its not going to be too long until the next "Halo Forum Rush" begins.
My estimate is going to be October or November of this year...

You've got to think crazy, of course, because you only get innovation by refining insanity. - Jason Jones

i know what the thread starter is talking about. I have been a member since 99, but got bored with the site for a few years. When halo was announced i came back and had forgotten or either lost my s/n, B.net bug of the past lol. But i come and go, here lately ive been posting in the public forums, i started out in private groups but migrated here, i still post in both public and private. Hell ive even done an interview of a bungie employee, you guys may have read it before, if not ill post a link.

With B.B. gone, the passion of Bungie.net has lessened.

Even though I'm not here much, I've noticed a quiet down as well... Maybe it'll start going back to the way things used to be with the "Old Crapness."

I remember when I was among the names that people actually recognized my name. I don't say that to sound arrogant, but situations like that are nice. Everyone recognizes pretty much everybody, and people don't have to tiptoe around because others know the way you write, and what you mean by your words.

Meh, the good old days... How I miss them.

Popularity only brings you enemies, in real life anyways. people who wish they were you, peopl who you have bullied for being "Such a loser". They are the ones who always come back to be successful in life, while you and your boyfriend end up getting married at the age of 17 because you don't want your child to be a bastard.

Note: The word bastard was used in non-slang context. That is it's true meaning

How did we get on this topic again? We were talking about how some of us felt the forums were in a slow decline, then we got on a discussion about popularity.

Only in the Septagon...
