Subject: Marcus Lehto, Brian Jarrard and Niles Sankey leaving BUNGIE ?

Per Audacia Ad Astra!

Hi guys,

I don't know if someone made a similar topic previously i'm sorry in advance, but i just heard that 3 key member of Bungie just leave the boat. According to this french Halo Website (at the very end)

Seriously Marcus Letho is one of the core designer of the studio and he was one of the most recognizable figure of Bungie since Myth... I can't believe it, he was the last person i thoughts who would leave the studio at this point (it's kinda weird, because he was talking about jumping in something new with the team).
You can see his Twitter here
Niles Sankey was the campaign designer of H3 who worked in Reach and at least Brian Jarrard our "dear" community lead is out of the factory... What happened ? What are your thoughts ? Did Bungie is loosing some "Brains" ? ouch!?

Lehto said he was going on "sabbatical" which means he's taking a break from work.

Urk mentioned in another thread that Ske7ch is spending time with his family.

So I assume that this is probably going to be a case for a lot of the employees who have been on hardcore stretches of work for years now.

Employee's families miss them a whole lot when they're working god-knows-how-many-hours a week.

smart, interesting, seems out of place.

Official fan of Assassin's Creed, Call of Duty, (Problem with that?) Halo, and Bungie, also a total gaming junkie.

Marcus?! MARCUS?! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

"Wake me...when you need me."

It is hard to tell what is going on, but I would not put it past our good friends to have some surprises up their sleeves. People may be leaving. People may be staying.

Of course, some of them might be going to space.

Don't worry there is plenty of talent still in Bungie. It would be very sad to see Marcus go.

He'd have instantly stopped and knelt down, one fist on the ground, hoping to be impervious to the officer's attacks. When this would have failed and he's in the back of the police car, he'd blame his predicament on his friends for not being team players.
Bungie's new game: Particle

Really shows how far Bungie has come when we miss employees that leave.

Wait a second, Lehto removed the tweets that said he was leaving, as well as the one about him leaving on sabbatical. Curious.

I will hope this is true so hard.

I spend too much time here.. too much time indeed.

I tweet?

Unfortunately working for the corporate world, as I have, "sabbatical" carries a slightly different meaning.

It's usually about a month of paid time off that employees tend to use as a time to think about their next career move. Usually ending with them moving on from the company. If he chooses/chose to move on, it'd probably have been decided then.

Sad to see the anyone go, but you've gotta do what you've gotta do to keep it fresh and interesting in life.

I am open to doing free clan tags for anyone. Contact me on my deviant art profile through a note and NOT on my comments page as they will not be acknowledged.

Click on the "My Homepage" button to be directed to my page.

If this is true, Bungie might be going down the path of Rareware. I pray that this isn't the case.

Hi.

Lehto? Didn't he direct the abomination of a campaign?

  • 08.02.2011 6:09 PM PDT

Bungie.net is the only website that has been able to hold my interest for such a long period of time, and I can only imagine there are still many years to come.

I thought ske7ch left a while ago?

Marcus is still on the "Meet the Team" page and so is Niles. Neither have left Bungie, at least to my knowledge.

I believe he was the Creative Director for Reach.

Correct me on this.

Wait, what?! I thought every Bungie employee other than just a few already moved over to 343i...

Highly talented people will always be sought out by competitors. If a few of the good guys from Bungie get pulled into other projects, then hopefully they can infect those other developers with some of the special sauce that makes Bungie great.
