My Grandfather was a Desert Ranger, my Father was a Veteran Ranger in the NCR. My father was killed by Caesar's Legion and they took my Brother. It's now my responsibility to uphold the mantle of the Rangers and avenge my Father and find my Brother.

How come the UNSC doesn't put an advanced A.I. like Cortana or Serina into one of these? It seems like a good idea to me! Maybe they can outfit it with a gun or something for defense.

Because that'd be a waste of an advanced AI. And they were used for civilian broadcast, not military action.

Read Contact Harvest.

Also, Mako Drones are used by rebels, if used by UNSC I have no doubts that an AI could control them if it so chose.

AI's can do thousands of tasks at once.

Edit, wait that is a news drone, unless ONI is involved there would be no reason.

To what end? Cortana being in John's suit helped him react move faster and then she could go with him wherever he went. Other AIs were in ships or bases/facilities. There would be no need for them to be flying there.

Just like the number of licks it takes to get to the center of a Tootsie Pop, the world may never know...except Bungie.

They don't look sturdy enough to handle battlefield conditions. A few plasma bolts or needles could easily take it out. And AIs are not something the UNSC would want to lose that easily. Could also be in conflict with the Cole Protocol if the Covenant knew there were AIs in the drones.

I don't know what for exactly...

It would have a self destruct fail safe.

I would hope the OP is talking about remote control guys.

It would still be very cost inefficient for the UNSC to place a multi-million (or billion etc) credit program inside those drones. It would be more efficient to continue what the UNSC did and have AIs in warships and ODPs (and other platforms that require more precision than a human can offer) for targeting and and slip-space coordinates.

An A.I. is flying it...I dunno it sounded like a good idea at the time! It would be like the A.I. has its own set of "eyes" not just cameras and sensors around the area.
