Ensemble Studios (now Robot Entertainment) made Halo Wars.
Sort of. Ensemble split into two major pieces, Robot Entertainment and Bonfire Studios, plus a few smaller teams. A lot (most?) of the Halo Wars folks went to Bonfire Studios, which subsequently got acquired by Zynga and is now known as "Zynga Dallas".
And you thought Halo lore was complicated. :)Oh duh, right.
I knew that Microsoft liquidated Ensemble and that its employees moved on to start new ventures, such as those two main pieces (amongst others), but I didn't realize that Bonfire became a part of Zynga. I didn't know the name of Bonfire, just that there was another company set up. That's pretty cool to know.
Cheers for clearing that up :)
Maybe this site can clear some things. Not sure how up to date it is but is pretty interesting http://remember-ensemblestudios.com/
Ensemble was probably working on an early concept for a Halo RPG - old news some time ago. MS eventually broke up the studio because ES wanted to do many other things than just RTS that's what I think. And then you look at all the direction they went in aftermath it is pretty obvious. The Game Biz is complicated.
