Rivals?
Far from it.

If bungie and 343 were rivals it would end badly for all humanity

Rivals, eh?

Why am I starting to think about this in terms of Pokemon metaphors?

This is my grandson, but obviously I've forgotten his name. What was it again? Oh that's right, it's 343. Good luck on your Pokémon adventure, Bungie!

I like cheese more than you
Except Blue Stilton. That stuff is nasty. As is any cheese that contains stuff other than cheese

Because 343 has a ratata, and Bungie has a Shiny Mewtwo
7 of them

Ensemble Studios (now Robot Entertainment) made Halo Wars.

Sort of. Ensemble split into two major pieces, Robot Entertainment and Bonfire Studios, plus a few smaller teams. A lot (most?) of the Halo Wars folks went to Bonfire Studios, which subsequently got acquired by Zynga and is now known as "Zynga Dallas".

And you thought Halo lore was complicated. :)

Apparently not huh?

Oh duh, right.

I knew that Microsoft liquidated Ensemble and that its employees moved on to start new ventures, such as those two main pieces (amongst others), but I didn't realize that Bonfire became a part of Zynga. I didn't know the name of Bonfire, just that there was another company set up. That's pretty cool to know.

Cheers for clearing that up :)

Maybe this site can clear some things. Not sure how up to date it is but is pretty interesting http://remember-ensemblestudios.com/

Ensemble was probably working on an early concept for a Halo RPG - old news some time ago. MS eventually broke up the studio because ES wanted to do many other things than just RTS that's what I think. And then you look at all the direction they went in aftermath it is pretty obvious. The Game Biz is complicated.

I run Skirmish!!!

it's quite sad how microsoft can go around "liquidating" certain gaming studios, i was a big fan of ensemble after the AoE series and halo wars ( not as big a fan of bungie) and then microsoft rolls in and screws up ensemble, now im very skeptical about 343i making a halo game... For starters, there will be no Marty o Donnell doing the music right?

Bungie gave it a good 10 yrs and imo halo should have been done when bungie was done...

This is the way the world ends;
Not with a bang but a whimper.

Wonderful to have you relate yourself metaphorically to a shark...

1. Why would Bungie and 343i be rivals, they worked together before back in Halo: CE.

2. 343i made the Defiant Map Pack for Reach, Bungie made the Noble Map Pack. Also, 343i now owns Halo.
1. No. 343 Industries only began when Bungie split from Microsoft after Halo 3.

2. No they didn't make the Defiant Map Pack. Refer to my list above.

Well I guess I was wrong.

I thought I saw some article saying that 343i helped with some of the Mulitplayer maps in Halo: CE.

What house has a rocket pod, has legs, and has a long narrow barrel that probably shoots something powerful?

Sounds like you're describing the lower half of my body, actually.

I broke one of the cords for my X11s because I couldn't get past the final American course in Doritos Crash Course.

There were a few folk from Bungie that went to 343, the most well known I guess being Frank O Connor who used to write the Bungie weekly updates.
