I was using theatre mode in Reach and noticed that several if not most covenant-esque weapons/ armours/ ships have somewhat of a honeycomb pattern on them. Now, I've never bothered to take much notice into detail so I have no idea if this is the same for any other Halo games but my main question is, does anyone know why they have the honeycomb patterns?

This was never shown in the previous Halo games, but it's all just a graphical thing. I don't think there's a logical reason behind it all; besides, I like the Honeycomb patterns on everything. It's like a Signature of the Covenant's.

Forklifts never die. They're just missing in Forge.

I always noticed, even from the first day. It's probably the material they use.

Hexagons are a popular trend in modern video games. It's like lens-flare. Think nothing of it, there were a bunch of Hexagons in the Halo 3 Terminals.

Do you know what kind of hat I'm wearing?

A party hat; you don't get one. An honor will this party be, a party in your honor, for your honor. Some of Tfear's personal guards are going to be there. You'll be introduced shortly.

Prepare to die.

Maybe that's why the covenant weapons weigh so little.
As with all aluminium applications in the transport sector, strong and durable honeycomb panels save deadweight and
add to the amounts that can be carried. This, in turn, saves on vehicle usage, the fuel otherwise consumed and the
emissions that result.

It is probably inspired by Forerunner technology, from which practically all of the Covenant's technology comes from. Hexagons were in the Forerunner terminals in Halo 3. The Bubble shield is reverse-engineered Covenant, which was taken from Forerunner technology as well and is made up of Hexigons.
