Regardless of the future of the Halo franchise, Bungie has created an enduring universe that links generations to one another and gives them something to relate to. That's saying something, considering the only other instance I can think of this happening in video games is Pokemon.
I started playing Halo back in 2003, I was 12 at the time. I got Halo 2 in 2004 and made this account in 2005. Fast forward to the present and I'm teaching a typing class at an afternoon enrichment program that my church runs for a public middle school/highschool.
This particular typing class is composed entirely of 7th graders and today was show and tell. The students were asked to bring in something of value and importance to them. They brought in various things here and there, but asked me what I brought. I had opted to bring in my Halo: Reach Legendary Statue of Noble Team.
I didn't expect the enthusiastic response I got from the boys, who were so pumped up that their teacher had the same interest in Halo that they did. It's one of those things that breaks down walls between teacher and students and allows the students to open up and be themselves, instead of being ashamed of their interests and hobbies.
I just wanted to share this with all of you and give my thanks to Bungie for creating an enduring, lovable universe that can transcend generational gaps and give disparate age groups a common interest.
