Fire for Effect. Fire and Forget.

Can someone confirm this for me?

On Halo Wiki it said that Humanity's empire rivaled the Forerunners, over 100,000 years ago, and we actually created a cure to the flood, but it was destroyed by the forerunner by mistake, when they attacked us. We were weakened by the Flood, so the Forerunners blew most of us back to the stone age. Although, in the end they chose us to continue their legacy.

I actually think it's pretty cool if that's the case, and would make a lot of sense.

Agh, so you're already slightly spoiled? I hope that you don't get spoiled any more on that site...

Well, it's hinted at fairly early on, so it's not a big spoiler.

Well, I was only halfway through Cryptum... thanks.

In the first few chapter you can figure it out, so not that much is spoiled.

Man, the extended universe really started reaching to stupid levels after GoO. How do they explain humanity devolving from a space-faring, intelligent species into cavemen?

What? I haven't read Cryptum, and don't intend to. Do you have some kind of problem with that?

You called the expanded universe stupid without even bothering do do some research. If you don't even understand what's stupid and still call it stupid, well I think we know who the real stupid person is.

I didn't say the entire extended universe was stupid, I'm saying it's reaching to stupid heights. So are you going to stop getting personally offended by my disapproval for that aspect of the extended universe and flaming me and explain how exactly this came to be?

Why? Because I called someone out on their ignorance? You new saps will defend anything against common sense.

I'm quite open about my ignorance on this subject, that's why I asked the question.

Personally offended? If anyone was offended, it was you going with the whole "You got a problem with that?" deal. You made a pretty ridiculous claim whilst then admitting you didn't even know why you were calling something stupid...stupid. If you would explain what parts of the expanded universe are stupid, then we can have a nice discussion.

*sigh*

It seems stupid to me, because I cannot think of a single conceivable way that humanity could go from the most intelligent and advanced space faring species in the galaxy to cave men isolated to a single planet. Now, are you going to actually explain this, like I've asked several times, or are you going to keep getting all over defensive about this?

We should know better, because we are better.

We fought Forerunners, we lost, they wanted to kill us all, but instead they decided to devolve us and split us into a dozen sub-species and leave us imprisoned on our planet.

Well, if you had bothered to actually read Crpytum, or as a last resort Halopedia, the answer would be clear. Humanity, with a San 'Shyuum alliance, fought a war against the Forerunners, while in secret also fought and successfully repelled the Flood. However, that battle exhausted their reserves of men, ships, and weapons and so humanity lost and as punishment, the Forerunners de-evolved humanity so they would not be a threat to their power. The San 'Shyuum were spared that fate, but quarantined.
