Because In the early BWU before Halo 3 died out(I dont mean dead dead, but dead as in not a million players on, so like last few months before reach came out) Bungie said that Reach was not going to be based off cannon, it was going to be a completly made up story(compared to cannon) ok?

@accordingto343

Your one stop shop for all of 343's fabulous errors and ridiculous notions in the Halo lore.

So what? The Reach canon could've been better.

We should know better, because we are better.

Reach most definitely broke cannon.

It is my solemn duty to uphold cannon.

They said that it wouldn't be a retelling of the Fall of Reach. That doesn't mean it wouldn't stick to canon. I enjoyed Reach.

Heroic Spree?

Bungie said;

-"The game won't be based on the book The Fall of Reach, however the events in the book still happen elsewhere on the planet, we just won't be covering them."

which is odd because they said ignore the book and follow the game.

Interesting.

I wake up to find myself
After all these years
And where all the time has gone
Still seems so unclear

The books have always been optional canon. The game outranks the book, therefore the game is canon. That's how it works, doesn't mean we have to like it.

I'm going to need a source on that one. Also, even if they did:

Bungie is no longer managing the Halo Universe. While our Halo-related forums and stats remain available, be advised that "official" answers and support about the Halo Universe (past, present, or future) are not.

I just noticed that message.
