Captain Munn

Master Chief having a thruster type thing on the ship in the Trailer already has me a bit worried. He never had one so why does he have one now when he has been in cryo? 343 is already making me nervous.

Halo Reach 2/3rds of the way mythic conqueror (6/9)

Don't ruin Halo 343. thats all I can say

Your one stop shop for all of 343's fabulous errors and ridiculous notions in the Halo lore.

Then quite frankly I think you're acting ridiculous. Just because we didn't see Chief use the thruster pack doesn't mean he never had it, he just didn't have a good use for it.

He has always had that.

and if you don't like it then don't buy it. I don't understand why people are under the notion they HAVE to buy the game.

He always had that? so why in the countless times weve seen him in space he has never used it? when he has been so close to missing jumps. he has never used it. maybe in a book he had it. but the books dont all match up with the games.

"Waste Not, Want Not"

The books are expanding upon the universe. The masterchief and the covenant war are only a small portion. They are great games but just because bungie decided not use a jet apck doesn't mean that missions we do mot know about he didnt have one

He's had it since he got his armor on Cairo Station. He's been in space in a Halo game once and the sections he was playable on didn't require it. Later on, he didn't need it because he landed on the In Amber Clad. Beside,s it's an atmospheric pack, not sure it would work on the ground.

Oh, like Bungie never took liberties with canon before.

It's a jetpack, basically.

lol the books will always be relevant, and that thruster can only be used in certain situations. We don't know how much power it uses.

I don't recall Chief ever being in a zero-g zone wearing the Mark VI armor up until now. He's never had the opportunity to use it.

"On the seventh day, god did not rest, but rather he created 64 player multiplayer!"

It's possible that the thruster feature in his armor has been damaged or otherwise inoperable up to this point, for whatever reasons we'll be given soon...

naturally somebody is going to say "halo 2", but that wouldn't have helped.

He was in space a few times during the books, but the situations didn't call for it.

Isn't the thruster pack exclusive to Mark VI?

  • 08.03.2011 5:34 PM PDT

We saw him in space like twice?

I honestly don't remember if frankie said "Mark 5 and up had it" or " After Mark V".

The bomb in Halo 2 would have propelled him enough to escape the blast.
In Halo 3, he is just casually going around the ship. There's no need to use it.

He's always had it; he just hasn't used it.

This.

Signatures are for squares.

Damn it people.

Frankie already said that it will explain how Chief gets the jetpack, and that the teaser isn't "at the start of the game."

I'm too lazy to go find the interview.

Berzerk Gnome

Even if he didn't have it before he could have attached it in the cryo chamber, most likely there would be a propulsion system stored in the chamber

  • 08.03.2011 6:17 PM PDT

I wake up to find myself
After all these years
And where all the time has gone
Still seems so unclear

My goodness kiddies. They're maneuvering thrusters. Our current spacesuits have them. Do you really think a space capable Powered Assault Armor from 500+ years in the future that cost as much as a goddamn battleship wouldn't have that implemented at some point?

What the hell did you think the "humps" on his back this whole time were for? Aesthetics?
