Cool, but I can't help but be afraid that this "Brave New World" of Tiger is just another trumped up skinner box with more marketing covering the walls than substance, especially with that talk of "Bigger than Halo" which suggests that Bungie's prorities aren't in the right place.
Focus on quality first, then how we'll react to it. I mean, Bungie didn't go into Halo looking to make the biggest FPS franchise of the decade, but they did largely in part of the work feverishly done by a bunch of guys who just wanted to make cool -blam!-. But that's not the same atmosphere we have going into this next project. Already we have expectation, we have hype, and we have something that's shaping up to be another curtain of fun promises shadowing a cold, hard, reality of grinding.
It's not good, or at least it's not a good start. Maybe this is just all pessimistic whining jumping at the slightest provocation but in looking at where we've come it's unconscionable to let it slide as "oh, maybe it'll be like the old days this time" when we've spent the last decade wishing that to no avail.
I think you were missing the point. At the beginning, they were talking about how they never expected Halo to be as big as it was and that the game itself was a big leap of faith. Then they said how leaving this mammoth of a franchise and going into new territory is risky. They didn't say "This game will be bigger than Halo." They said, "How can a game be bigger than Halo?" followed by, "We'll see." So basically they want to say Halo was a big risk that payed off, and thats what they are hoping for with the new franchise.
They're more ambitious than cocky.
