This may seem far fetched but the symbol in the middle of the Dead Orbit logo looks exactly like the Hebrew letter "Zain" and that is the seventh letter in the Hebrew alphabet.

Search "Zain" in Google Translate in English to Hebrew and it should show you the letter.

I know its dumb, but the "Seven Seraphs" are clearly named after the "Seraphim" from the Jewish bible. Maybe there are more connections? Also there is the "Osiris" thing and the "New Monarchy" thing which to me seem like they are connected with the ancient Egyptians.

Maybe this new game will have something to do with religion? Maybe it will have a reference to the whole Ancient Egyptian-Jewish conflict?

Sorry for the bull-blam!-. Just speculating.
Hmm, you might be on to something. Maybe not neccessarily religion, but civilizations and ideologies.

These five factions could be in conflict not across just space, but time. Changes and manipulations of the timeline could have resulted in the formation of these factions from the strongest civilizations at certain points in history.

Osiris: Egyptian.

New Monarchy: Could be the British Empire or another powerful empire.

Dead Orbit: Maybe some alliance of Judeo-Christian nations or kingdoms if you agree with the "Zain" theory. Or possibly future lunar colonists. The moon is "dead", and "orbits" the Earth.

Destiny: Maybe modern/near-future Western civilization.

Seven Seraphs: ?

That would add to the "Future War Council" idea. Maybe the FWC is a regulator, preventing other civilizations from affecting the past by having them fight in the future.

Why does everyone want MMO? I mean not only has it been publicly stated that the project is NOT an MMO (thank god), but are you really all that deadset on a restrictive world of walking around, grinding and wasting time killing low level fodder, and using some restricted gestures?

Nah, mang. Nah.

I mean it would be interesting, as Bungie seems to (sans Halo) be that company that just wants to dabble in all genres. That's the direction they were going before Halo at least. They're also not interested in making a BORING game, (and I hate to inject my opinion into this), but MMOs are the most boring genre out there.

I feel like this needs clearing up when I say that I'm thinking Bungie are working on a MMO im not referring to something like WOW(which is a MMORPG)but something more like Planetside and Planetside 2 or even MAG which are completely different to WOW and are in fact MMOFPS people need to stop think that MMO automatically means WOW clone

Well to each their own.

Now for those who wanted higher resolution images of the symbols here ya go...

Destiny Symbol

Dead Orbit Symbol

New Monarchy

Osiris Symbol

Seven Seraphs Symbol

All you have to do is download them and edit them as you wish. I figured people may want to use them for Wallpapers or something else.

It's possible that's what that symbol is but when making it the shirt was the hardest of all of them to make out what it was I had to try and make it as accurate as possible. I have a feeling we'll see what they really look like eventually

I agree, some people (myself included) have complained about how Halo has always had 16 player combat. I feel that with this new game it could certainly be increased allowing for better player interaction. Just think of the idea of a planet under seige by 50 people and you have to defend it? If the game isn't so much an mmo but an single player fps rpg with online combat I'd be fine with that 8]

I can personally say, if they can give me 32vs32 man gameplay, I will -blam!- not only my pants but yours as well, then buy the game.

EVEN IF THE GAME IS GNOP 2!!!

Zuul Check?

Don't know if this is just part of the tools they're using, or something specific to the game designer?

That's definitely just a plugin. Don't worry about it.

The thing I'm hanging on is that those screenshots you got are of something that's been available to the public for a while.

http://www.bungie.net/Inside/publications.aspx

Look at the lighting research publication. That's been there for two years. It's got shots of those mountains showing off the sun rays and the atmospheric distortion.

So whatever they're working on how has been in the works for a while.

Oh, and you missed some mocap footage of them capturing actors. A dude handing something to a woman. It seemed interesting enough to me. More revealing than anything else we got actually.

They're using that Avatar face animation method too with the camera helmets, which is cool.

thats the EXACT technology there using in the new planet of the apes movie

four player split screen?

Hmmm That's an interesting concept That's actually rather possible. The bottom left looks like a ship that's landing or taking off, maybe a transport of some sort?

A bit of a unnecessary response (People these days why are they so impolite?)it wasn't as if I was calling you a liar I was merely stating I couldn't find it although now I have.

I see exactly what you mean though they are extremely similar however there is a slight variation in that there are fans and metallic poles in the video, a slight variation in the elevation of the sand and the mountains different.I completely agree though that this game or the technology behind it must have been in development for a long time

You can see the shadows for the poles on the snow/sand

The engine is probably the Reach engine. The talk was given after Halo 3 ODST was out, so they were probably working on the Reach engine at the time. My guess is the new IP will be using a new version of the Reach engine.

The poles were in front of the building and next to it in the video but regardless it's probably been changed over time.

While I see your logic behind it being the reach engine I hope it isn't mainly because I think it would exciting to see a from the ground up designed engine specifically for this game.Although the art style seems above and beyond Reach which is good

isn't the reach engine now property of microsoft? there using it for the halo anniversary multiplayer. so bungie has to make a brand new engine (correct me if i am wrong)

No.

I don't believe it's the Reach engine... If it IS, than it's HEAVILY modified.

I mean Halo 1 evolving to Halo 3 modified.

There's stuff going on there in that documentation that I don't think could EVER work in the Reach engine.

I mean they're talking about real time lighting. Reach's was all pre-computed.

Plus there's that vid of the timelapse day-night transition. Reach just can't do that because it uses lightmaps.

Nice finds guys! I dont have any new info to share, exept this: If that 'contractor' guy that said back in February that it would be code named "Tiger" (Among other things) predicted that right, he must be right about the other things, right? I mean you dont just pull "tiger' out of your -blam!- right?!

Ya I saw that in another thread. I feel it points to the idea that they're doing something else that that hasn't been done with many first person shooters. If Bungie is making a first person shooter rpg then I'm very interested. Especially if it has interplanetary travel

Oh I completely agree as bungie have said multiple times it's an incredibly ambitious project and the idea of interplanetary travel and the possibility of landing any where on the planet is incredible

[Second is Dead Last]

It definitely looks like an RPG-FPS on a multi-stellar platform involving multiple factions. With all the tiny little pieces of info about this game they all remind me of little bits of other games like Deus Ex or Mass Effect, Red Faction, Homeworld or Command&Conquer: Renegade even!
Bungie seem pretty determined to break the mould with this game series as they did with bringing FPS to the console in Halo. I'm very interested to see how the different factions interact and how the Future War Cult(/council) fits into it.
They seem to be focusing on 'Massive Multiplayer Action' as the USP for the game so I can imagine it will have larger player numbers than Halo has.
-Crazy idea- With Bungie liking the community to own the game and eventualy the community owning it and all this MMO confusion the idea of using multiplayer action to decide the outcome of battles/scenarios in a single player or co-op story keeps bouncing around in my head. Like in Star Wars: Battlefront when you fought over a planet against AIs alone or with friends...What if that was online play but the outcome counted for you're storyline? But that's a mad hat idea anyway and most people would probably cry when their team lose.
I can't wait for this new series of games. They're making a new game engine and new deeper, richer universe. If the last 10 amazing years of Halo are anything to go by, this is gonna be EPIC!

Did anyone else notice Bungie made reference to the cancelled "Phoenix" project several times in the ViDoc?

They've never given any information on what Phoenix was supposed to be, as far as I know. Does anyone think that, maybe, this new IP is Phoenix reborn?

Based on what I could find about Phoenix it was supposedly a fantasy strategy game. So I doubt it's Phoenix reborn <.<

I think it was a third person hack and slash where you played as a Minotaur. It sounded cool, but I don't think that's what they're working on.

I do want to see them revisit that some time though.

I don't know if it has been mentioned but Osiris can be known as the Egyptian god of the dead, underworld etc. So that is a very direct link to the name. Check out the wiki page, because Osiris' name can also be Asari...

All of this keeps making me think about spore, i think we're going to have a faction based RPG, with a dynamic in-game economy.
