Im not a great writer, but i do have something to say so here goes. Ill do my best. I am a 35 year old gamer and about 11 years ago, i was an avid ps2 gamer. Ever since i started gaming, i was always more drawn to console gaming than i was the PC or the Mac. I always preferred sitting on the couch to the desk. All i played was ps2 and i was desperately looking for a good console shooter. But back then, console gaming didn't really have great FPS. Sure i played games like Red faction and Half-Life on ps2, but neither of those games were really drawing me in like some franchises seemed to be doing for PC gamers on the personal computer. And since im not a huge JRPG fan, i was quickly losing interest in gaming altogether.

I found myself doing other crazy things like, "going outside", "playing sports" and other really unhealthy activities. Console gaming just wasn't doing it for me anymore an i was losing interest quickly. I was out-growing Nintendo, not interested in Sony, and was incredibly bored. Or maybe growing up, who knows. But one day on a cloudy weekend, i decided to go rent an xbox at my local rental place and try out that game everyone was talking about. Obi-Wan! No no, i kid...it was Halo. But i did rent Obi-way too. :p

And being the HUGE star wars fan that i was, i decided to pop-in Obi-wan first and give it a try. Words cannot describe the horror i felt when i played that game. Absolutely terrible. The graphics were terrible, the level design was horrid, and overall the game was just boring as hell. I played that game for about 30 minutes (25 minutes too much) and then decided to move on to that other game, Halo.

The feeling i got when first playing Halo CE, was the same feeling and reason that im sure why everyone reads a good book, watches movies, goes on a date with that girl that makes you nervous or even plays video games. Sure i wanted to be entertained, but what i really wanted was to fall in love and be blown away. And that i was.

Remember when you first saw the Matrix, or Pulp Fiction, well that feeling of not expecting something so amazing was exactly what i had when i played Halo CE. It was like falling in love with that girl that just gets you and you know she aint perfect, but u love everything about her, even the imperfections. Well Bungie, i was in love with your game.

But enough about love. A few days later, i proceeded to sell my ps2, bought an xbox and ive been a devoted Bungie fan ever since. And yes, Ive played the Marathon games on my Mac before i played Halo, but they didn't blow me away like this game did.

Its been, oh i dunno know how many hours that Ive devoted to your games online and off and for the first time ever back then, i actually became the fan of a company. Of a company that put everything but the kitchen sink in their games, who makes the games that THEY wanna play, who polished the hell out of their games and who stood their ground and kept their independency even though they worked for the "Evil Empire".

Halo might have brought me into your universe, but you Bungie are the reason i stay. So i thank you for bringing back my passion for console gaming when it was practically dead, and for giving me my favorite franchise ever, yes even above Star Wars. I will always follow the world of Halo even today, but i will also always remain loyal to you!

So thank you Bungie for an amazing 20 years and i will indeed "See You Starside" for hopefully another 20.

Thanks and best of luck!
