I thought the ViDoc was great, but then I got to the end about Reach, and I was just so disappointed at the end.
For me personally, Reach was a colossal failure of a Halo game. Was it a terrible game? No, but it was named Halo, which carries an expectation, one that wasn't anywhere close to being fulfilled with Reach. So many things Bungie did with the game just didn't work for me, and the game frustrated me so much that I just stopped playing it. Halo 3's lifespan was years, Reach's was months. In fact, the only reason I even stopped playing Halo 3 was because Reach came out.
I won't go into detail about why I didn't like the game, I'll just say its probably similar to most others complaints with the games. It didn't feel the least bit like Halo.
I can understand why Bungie would be happy from a developer's point of view, but I'm surprised that they seem to be completely okay with the fact that Halo officially conceded top dog status to CoD because of Reach. I thought they would've taken pride in the fact that Halo was the top game, and in its three year lifespan, it competed with 3 different CoDs. I don't remember seeing a single Xbox Live list where Halo wasn't number 1 or 2, and after people got tired of the new CoDs, they would always go back to Halo, and it would regain the top spot. Reach, past maybe the first couple weeks, hasn't left the second (third once BO came out). CoD has doubled Halo's population.
I think that is a perfect example of what Reach is- not a bad game by any stretch of the imagination, but not worthy of the Halo name.
