for me, as long as it has that "ancient, alien, and epic" feel that bungie is so good at with their games, and cyborgs as a playable class, i will be completely satisfied with this product. well... id probably be satisfied anyway since im a bungie addict but still....

If so, Nathan Fillion must be involved.

@ OP:

I was not thinking about space cowboys, but the screens and short flashes of footage did gave me a huge Star Wars (original one!) feeling.
That same idea as you also have: pioneers on distant worlds, exploring the galaxy and as always: a huge space opera-esque climax where the story will unevitably go towards.

It seems to be sort of in line with what Bungie has done in the past: taking elements from their existing games and creating a complete new franchise on top of that. Much like how Halo found a lot of its origins in Marathon.
This time it seems like Bungie might go with the whole colonial aspect they have always slightly touched upon in Halo but never fleshed out.

And how cool would that be? Playing from a pioneer/colonial point of view, with a battle going on for less federal involvement with a home-planet which doesn't know whats going on in the colonies? It would be a fresh thing in gaming these days. And I would definatly love to play such a thing.

Although, of course: it is FAR too early to say anything sane about "Tiger/Destiny". This is nothing more that pure imagination based upon the feeling the screens and footage gave me. But it seems like I'm not the only one with ideas in this direction.

Ugh, imagine getting XBL messages saying "Sn1per117 has shared a lonely raccoon with you" and "xXxGOWOWNAGExXx needs more straw thatching for his barn"...

Been a Bungie fan since the days of Myth TFL.

OP, I like where you're headed and I've had similar ideas. Space Western has been around for a while -- the original Star Trek was envisioned by Roddenbery as a kind of space western, so the notion clearly has staying power.

My theory is basically a mashup of previous Bungie IPs. Very original, I know :)

Imagine...
... the universal size- and time- scopes of Halo...
... an ONI-style third person hand-to-hand combat mode that switches into a Halo-style FPS mode... so you switch back and forth between projectile weapons, fisticuffs, and a mix of Myth style medieval weapons...
... the richness of Halo and Myth's legends and lores...
... Reach's character development model taken to the next level, coupled with Myth's 'hero' characters that actually improved with experienced... so imagine the ability to customize your armor and actually have it impact your play...

I guess what I picture is a medieval western fantasy sci-fi of epic proportions. That should cover the bases LoL.

Whatever it is, I can't wait!

I played a Bungie employee once and sent a post-game message of thanks for halo/anticipation for the next game... his/her response:

"we're working on a farm sim ;-)"

The moment I read his first sentence this was my thought. I hate that you stole it.

Post Reach - Bungie don't know how to make games.

I don't care what it is, its gunna be trash.

I guess he's not saying that bungie never knew how to make games, but that after doing Reach they won't do any other game as good as Reach (or any other halo)

Mind telling me who the 53rd President will be then, I ask because you seem to have the power of clairvoyance.

GROSSMAN: Do you think of the Culture as a utopia? Would you live in it, if you could?

BANKS: Good grief yes, to both! What's not to like? ...Well, unless you're actually a fascist or a power junkie or sincerely believe that money rather than happiness is what really matters in life. And even people with those bizarre beliefs are catered for in the Culture, albeit in extreme-immersion VR environments.

KOTOR

Space Cowboys instantly made me think of Cowboy Bebop. If the next game is like that, I will squeee with joy. Also it must feature Fillion somewhere.

We’re flawed because we want so much more. We’re ruined because we get these things and wish for what we had.

Although, Firefly has a steampunk feel, and there was a steampunk smell to a few happenings lately.

That would actually be really cool! Still, the clean look of it, the focus on stars, and the weird Halo-esque logo makes me assume it will continue to have very heavy science fiction undertones.
