I recently purchased an HD AV pack for my Xbox to compliment my 1080i HDTV. I went into video settings and selected yes to all 480p, 720p, and 1080i because my TV can handle any of them being that it is 1080i. After doing this I popped in Halo to check out the difference in the picture. I noticed that a portion of the radar was cut off. I assumed that by selecting yes to all I stretched the picture too much or something. My TV is HD, but not widescreen. Should I just select yes to 1080i, or am I going to lose some of the picture because my TV is not widescreen no matter what? Am I supposed to just select the highest display that my TV is capable of? If this is the case, since Halo is 480p and I set it to 1080i only, will I still view it in 480p when playing?

This is a problem with your TV, not your Xbox. As far as I know, all HD broadcasts are in widescreen, so your TV must be widescreen, although you may not notice. Go to your TV menu and select under both 4:3 default and widescreen default the "Full" option. This should solve the problem.

There is also a format button you can press, on most remotes for HD Tv's. It allows you to toggle between normal 4:3, 16:9, and a Zoom setting, that zooms in and cuts about an inch off every edge of the video
