this has been discussed 1000 times, its just a rumor and because halo 3 and reach run on the same servers, don't expect it to be shutdown until another console comes out at leastUm... no. No they do not run on the same servers.
But regardless, of course Halo 3 isn't going anywhere. That's ridiculous mate.
Um....Yes they doNo mate. No they don't.
In May of 2010 the Halo: Reach Beta was released. On day one of the public beta (when it was open to everybody and not just those who snagged an early code), the servers of Halo: Reach crashed. This caused chaos in Bungie Studios, and it was reflected by the state of the public forums here on Bungie.net. Bungie managed to fix the servers, claiming that the high number of people overwhelmed them.
Shortly before Halo: Reach was released, Halo 3 switched to these servers- the Halo: Reach beta servers, as they now worked and would be able to work under the (expected) lower population. When Halo: Reach was open to the public, it received its own servers.
Halo 3 currently uses the Halo: Reach Beta servers. It does not, however, share the same server as Halo: Reach does at the moment.
ok, so its very similar to the reach servers then
