No.

I'm guessing that the program is for making (obviosly) video games, but no one here would probably know what it was just from looking at someone making mountains on a screen.

Yes we could.

He was editing terrain, therefore it was a terrain editor.

I'd also like to support my "Grognok for the Players" theory.

Bungie was astounded by our creations with Forge and Theater. They've said they could never had imagined what we did, from great maps to brilliant art. Now what if Bungie feels that its players have more potential? More potential to build actual maps.

Great... Now instead of exploding -blam!-s made of crates and walls it's gonna be intricate, detailed exploding -blam!-s.

"You build on failure. You use it as a stepping stone. Close the door on the past. You don't try to forget the mistakes, but you don't dwell on it. You don't let it have any of your energy, or any of your time, or any of your space." -Johnny Cash

No duh, but what specific program? That's what I meant.

Hey, if the gameplay is balanced and the power weapons* aren't too concentrated, I'm all for it!

*Assuming it builds maps for an FPS.

I don't know if in the ViDoc they were just showing off what the tool could do, but I don't think your standard FPS is going to be played on maps that massive.

Very reminiscent of Zbrush and similar programs. Hopefully we'll be able to get our hand on the tool eventually. Possible that Grognok is just an internal dev tool though once the game is officially announce hopefully we'll know one way or another. It is trademarked after all.

Only time will tell.

my gt is Godzillla....i just didnt link it properly

bungie prob wrote it themselves they are one of the few devs that make most of their owns tools as is

as well consider that their emplyee page has like 30-35 opening for engineers so they are working towards a small army of programmers , bungie prob has a slew of triple A tools that were internally developed for their disposal

i thought zbrush as well

it also reminds me of the farcry map engine where you can sort of paint the terrain in a nurbs sculpting sort of fashion

Bungie doesn't do standard FPS.

The terrain it was working did seem rather expansive, though.

What do you play on such large maps?

Since it seemed like there was a lot of room to work with in the program maybe it is being used to make a large map that can either be for a large multiplayer battle (64v64 maybe), a large free roam map for a mission, or even an entire map for an RPG.

The possibilities and endless and that's what is annoying me cause now I want to know even more about their new game and this program.

No idea, sorry.

Campaign levels are quite massive when you think about it.

Key

Its a program called Grognok. Its a program Bungie is using right now, it is believed, to create in-game worlds. Massive ones.

It's seen in this picture and in the lower left hand corner you can see the word tiger, a codename for their new project.
