Peace is nice. I don't however, agree on Reach being good. It wasn't bad, though, just ordinary. It was over-hyped and over-exaggerated.

They arrive to voice their displeasure that the game isn't exactly what they had thought it would be, and b*tched that games should be given a Title Update every time they found the tiniest flaw. In reality, they b*tched because they just sucked at the game.

Woah woah woah. Hold on a minute here. First of all, the main complaint that people had against Reach was Armor abilities and bloom. While I strongly agree with the bloom aspect of their argument, I disagree with Armor abilities. However, not many people called for a Title Update for every little flaw. If you noticed that, please link me to a few threads. I'd like to see.

What it boils down to is that Halo: Reach was imitative and tried to balance the game out as much as possible. All vehicles and weapons were, in essence, on the same playing field. Bloom is a factor in that. What I complain about, and many others who have the same "skill set" as me, is that they went too far to make everything balanced and destroyed what past Halo multiplayer was.

And I believe it was the upper echelon of the skill ladder that voiced these complaints/concerns. So please, don't generalize people like that.

As for the rest of your post, I'm inclined to agree with most of it.

i shed a tear to this. all in truth.
i hate to see bungie leave halo, but i'm very confident in them in their next project. hopefully, 343i can step it up just as much as bungie has over the years.

Yeah, I agree with you. And to add to the Zen topic, the nice, new starry backdrop makes the site feel even calmer and settled.

Nice post.

Oh, and I think this is a nice touch to add.

Only read half of the OP, but I completely agree in where you're going. The true Bungie community is all that is left (dont even look at the reach forum). It is great.
My favorite part of a game is the speculation before it's released.

7th Column!!!

I just can't wait to see what their next IP is. I know that they love to watch us Sherlock Holmes it out over time, but there is so little to work with right now. The ViDoc has some clues in it, but since Bungie is going dark by necessity, other content will be slow in coming. So it may be a bit be for we get anything with more clues hidden in it.

=)

But seriously. I love the Forums even more now that the majority of the trolls have gone. Every forum has their trolls, that is to be expected, but we no longer have the surplus that we get shortly after a new game drops.

It'll happen again once Bungie's new game gets announced/drops. People will join and post just to hate on the game, without any real reason other than to piss off the Core Bungie Fans.

Then after a little bit, they will mostly go away. And the Community goes back to what it is now.

The cycle just keeps going, and the 7th Column endures.

For now, I'm going to enjoy the peace, and the great conversations.

=)

So now, as the undesirable parts of the community are leaving, peace is being restored.

Exactly. The quality of the threads since Aug. 2nd are proof enough. Before, most threads would turn into troll-bait/flame-wars because of all of the trolls.

Since the 2nd, you can start a thread without 2 or 3 members continually reposting "Reach sux! If you think it's good then you are retarded!" and then that would also be the proof to the argument. Just that their opinion was enough to get Reach pulled from store shelves.

Even threads that started before the 2nd, the later pages of posts are much more intelligently written as well as fun to read. There isn't the overwhelming attitude that if you post it is only going to get trolled by moody haters with nothing better to do with their time than to trash the people who actually enjoy Halo: Reach.

It is changing back into the Community we have all loved for so long. That we are Bungie fans regardless if they are in control of Halo or not. The change is slow, but steady. Finally, the Forums are safe for the 7th Column again. lol

Note also that "Opinions are not right or wrong" (honestly, this is so ridiculously ignorant it makes my head hurt) is also an opinion, and thus the position undermines itself.
But that's wrong. That was a statement of a fact I believe to be true, which is either right or wrong. Anywho, sent a pm to undermine the fat argument and all that.

Just posting here to bump a good thread.

Of your entire post, there is one part that I find myself strongly disagreeing with:

I find that the people who complain about tiny flaws seem to typically be more skilled than those who don't care at all. Yes it sucks that people complain, but when someone has a problem with something, I think it's good that they speak out about it.

I understand what you mean though, the unhelpful whiny complaints which serve purely as a means of expressing rage without providing any constructive criticism, I definitely won't miss those.

I prefer to think of it as a "Trial-by-Fire" for 343. lol

They get Halo, and all of the funk that comes with it. lol

We get our Community back... seems fair to me.

;-D

(I know 343 will handle Halo just fine, but the above thought humors me. lol)

BTW, Thank you Maverick, and to all who have given compliments. Even to those who disagree, I thank you. It is good to see the Community coming back into its own like it has. We got hijacked by trolls for a bit (but this happens every game cycle, look at what I described in my OP, the cycle just keeps repeating and we keep getting stronger!), but we emerge as a more solidified community, much stronger than we were before. It's take more than a couple of HAVOK nukes to take out this Community!

Long live the 7th Column, baby!

Lol excellently worded, I think you and I have similar expectations of games Uriel, Bungie and Bethesda are the only two developers that have really ever got me obsessed with their games.

I need a world that is so vastly real in itself that it takes a certain cognition to eventually feel a part of that world so much that you start to feel like a master of its universe.

Exactly.

The worlds that they make, the entire universe's with such deep, rich lore, that is what got me hooked so long ago with Halo: CE and the Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind.

They take such care making their games as visually stunning and engrossing toy your mind, how can you help but to be hopelessly addicted to them? From the campaigns and graphics, to the soundtrack and the background lore, both companies put so much depth and grandeur into their games that it's no wonder that they have had almost nothing but blockbusters.

Both companies, Bungie and Bethesda Softworks, have earned me as a fan of both for life!!!
