I completely agree; however, the only group of people I can't say are leaving are the "new" Floodians :/

Fortunately, for the moment, the Ninjas have been fairly successful keeping them contained in the Flood.

To someone who frequents the Flood often, I can see how this is a problem. I don't cruise there much, so it doesn't bother me much.

However, the spammers need to beware. If they do this for too long, they risk aggravating Achronos.

If that happens... I don't think I'll be able to get the blood off of my boots for weeks.

lol

I hear he feasts upon the fallen spammers for breakfast every morning along with his danish and coffee... but that's just what I hear.

The next wave will be in a few years. Too bad there is no way to truly prepare ourselves.

We should probably increase the frequency of our offerings at the Altar of Ling Ling...

Maybe then the Overlord Achronos will smile upon our frail forms and bless us with Anti-Troll protection.

lol

Thank you Bungie,

See you starside.

It's ironic you post this at around the time we got a bunch of spam posted here recently :P

6/21/2011?

It has been pretty calm, but I kind of got use to the craziness of the Bungie forms. Kind of miss it.

The craziness is still there, the Forums just don't devolve into mental-retard mode quite as often since most of the trolls left.

It's a statuesque type of irony.

lol

Maybe this thread is relevant again after the last couple of days worth of posts?

There's been a lot people pissed and just spamming new threads lately.

Maybe we need some more Zen in our lives.

Hmm, I haven't really noticed a change in the amount of stupidity on the forums lately. Bnet, in general, is far from being "one".

I think that we are suffering through one last surge from the blind haters. It'll pass, and we will be a stronger, more closely knit community once they leave as well as the original trolls.

This is part of the cycle of hate and calm that comes with any game release/transition.

It'll pass, and the 7th Column that we love so much will be a stronger Community afterwards.

;)

I was a finalist :P

Perhaps due to the fact of increased off-topic, and hate threads in the bungie.net community the punishments should be a bit harsher for a short, until users get the message.

Perhaps a small one day ban for their actions?

I haven't even looked at the Reach forum for a few days, so I don't think it has to do with the "haters".
What I'm trying to say is that my Bnet experience has been pretty much the same since I joined. As of now, Bnet isn't as chaotic as it was before/right after Reach's release, but I wouldn't describe it as peaceful.

I agree. I think it's well within reason, and it'll help chase off the few remaining trolls and leave these Forums to the actual Bungie fans and 7th Column Community.

One day bans are pointless and stupid. The spam/misplaced threads are caused by new users, so the best thing we can do is point them in the right direction.

Well to be more specific people who have been here quite a while and know the rules should receive the one-day ban.
Besides all users should read the rules before posting. Punishments have to be harsh in real life for people to get the message

You're either dead or judged.

This has nothing to do with being zen, and Sidartha is disappoint.

"People who have been here for quite a while" aren't the ones making the threads.
Most new users are too eager to start posting to read the rules, which is understandable. Punishing them with one day bans would just make them feel unwelcome.

That said, a one day ban is so small it has the same affect as a warning, which is what the poster usually gets for putting a topic in the wrong place.

OMFG THE ZEN IN THIS POST IS LYKE TOTALLY OVERPOWERED!!! TEH AUTHOR NEEDS TO MAKE A PATCH FOR IT OR I'M NEVER PLAYING A Uriel S167 GAME AGAIN!!!!

But seriously I do believe without the hater/fan war, the forums have found much more interesting things to talk about.

If they truly wish to stay on the site, then they would not feel unwelcome as a result of the ban and proceed to follow the rules henceforth. I see where your getting at, but how many warnings does it require before the user is truly punished?

Good post. Its the truth as well.

I kinda feel I need to say something more to try and compare to your post...

All that has been, will be.

Everything has already happened.

You have already said what you said and you have already said what you were wanting to say.

Thats Zen for ya.

  • 08.15.2011 4:23 AM PDT

OP - I almost shed a tear. Such a beautiful outlook on our community, both good and bad...

You watch though - as soon as Bungie announces their next IP, those same whiners and trolls will return to Bnet to start a flame war once more.

The never-ending cycle of Bnet

I'm glad I didn't TL;DR, it was a good read. I also agree with you and hope we stay whiny kid free.

Thank you, your compliments mean a lot to me dear Column. =)

And it is simply the cycle of game developers Forum when a new game is announced through the next several months after it drops.

It is the natural cycle of a game forum. I am also a member of Bethesda Softworks Forums. The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is getting ready to drop in November, and believe me, the trolls are in full swing over there keeping their mods busy just like here. In between Oblivion and up until Skyrim's announcement, their Forums were peaceful and tranquil as well.

It is the natural cycle. The true fans of a developer deal with the arrival of the trolls, ignore them as much as is humanly possible, and joyfully kick them in the a** on their way out as they get bored or move on to the next developer/game.

Like Bethsoft's Forums & Community, Bungie.net & the whole of the 7th Column will be a stronger, much more tight-knit Community once the last of the trolls move on.

All we have to do is wait. We will endure, and we will dominate the lesser humanoids with our vast communal intellect as they come to troll and blindly rage about the site.

The 7th Column is as constant as the Northern Star! And will endure for just as long.

Nice write-up OP. Complainers will always complain. A whole of the people who expressed their hate for Reach are in for a treat though, 343i will be pumping out Halo games every 1-2 years and the franchise at some point will suffer from fatigue. The whiners will find no peace even with 343i.

I'd like to have a word with you.
Also 343 forums are still incredibly nice.
