Just started playing Halo and enjoying it very much. What got me started was a spot on G4. Seen the Halo 2 shots and liked it. I had a copy of Halo sitting in my draw from a sound card package deal. Booted it up and have been playing for a week now. One question to all of the vets here: When should I try MP? Should I finish the game on hard level before even trying MP or just dive in? And another one: I don't suppose you can dual-wield weapons in this one, correct? Hope to see you all soon on the MP scene.

Welcome to Halo, your life will not be the same. I would finish the game at least once before venturing into MP, just so you get comfortable with the controls. MP play is so different from the campaign there not really any benefit to beating heroic or lengendary other then to say you did.

No you cannot dual-wield weapons in Halo PC, BUT there is a free add-on called Halo Custom Edition (Halo CE) that has custom maps including the Halo 2 map which you can dual-wield on. Look in the sticky at the top about Custom Edition it has all kinds of good info in it.

Welcome to the Maw. We are always looking for fresh meat...er new players to play with. Stick around here and your questions will be answered and your thirst for battle will be quenched.

P.S. Make sure you read the stickys at the top particularly the Guides. It will answer a lot of questions before you ask them.

Welcome to the Maw! It's always nice to see someone new joining!

To answer your questions:
* I started MP right after I finished the game on Heroic difficulty (legendary is even harder), the first games were different from the Single Player mode and I had to learn how to fight all over again, but at least the basic skills from finishing Single Player remained. I think that if you finished at least Heroic, then you'd be ready. After all, you can only get better by practice!

* No dual wielding here, that was included in Halo 2 only. I never had much trouble without it, though.

If you need some advice in playing MP, then check the guides section for the Multiplayer Tips. I learned a bit from that even after I had played MP for a while, I'm sure you'll benefit lots!

Edit: Man, Igg's post right over mine is basically the same... Oh well, great minds think alike.

Welcome buddy! Yep, Halo PC is pretty cool. I still play it a lot, even through I have 2 on Live.

Multiplayer is extremely different that Campagin, so like he said, it doesn't help too much other than just getting used to the controls, but it's still good to go through once, just cause....just cause it's good for you, lol. It's like ice cream...and mowing the lawn... and owning a dog. Beating Halo 1 Campaign is just good to do.

Just from reading your post and seeing the date you joined (today) I can tell you're new.

Go to My Settings to pick an avatar for "those display pictures".

Do you own Halo PC or no? At the start up menu, there's a bunch of words, one of them is called, "Multiplayer", have I lost you yet? Click on it and under Join Internet you can join a game. Or you can create a game. After that it takes you to a game lobby click "Get List" at the bottom left corner and get the list of games. Then pick your game. Have fun.

It doesn't matter if you finished the campaign first and start multiplayer, I already beat Halo campaign on my friends xbox so I haven't been putting too much time on campaign for Halo PC although I am slowly progressing.

Yeah you do. Erm...you shouldn't really be discussing warez or hacks on this site per se, although it could simply be confusion.

Anyways, yeah, Halo's a fun place. Start by grabbing Xfire and getting a few friends off the Maw Xfire List. We should be the more reasonable Halo players out there, and we'll help ease you into the MP...

Yes you need to buy a CD to play the game, you cannot download it. Go to any Best Buy/Walmart etc. and you will find it for $20.
