Subject: Halo Wars 2

Halo Wars was by far the WORST game in the Halo series. I don't get why console kids find it necessary to play RTS games on a console, when they are designed for the PC.

Halo Wars had such little content for an RTS, it was pathetic. Top that with poor balance, a sluggish game, and low framerates, and you have a dead game that 95% of people don't want to see or play.

Thats what they said about Halo as an FPS for consoles....

Over a million copies sold, Pretty good reviews, and the highest selling console RTS of all time beg to differ that people do wish to play some Wars.

Oppinion much?
Also Quality > quantity.
Proof for the "imbalance"?
Lol sluggish.
Reach framerates?
A dead game that is still being played today by at least 5000 people per day.

Way more than that, each time I get on at slow times its around 5,000. Peak hours 10,000 players online, who knows how many of those are different people.

I suppose that is from the perspective of someone who doesn't like strategy. I didn't like, or really haven't even played, any strategy before Halo Wars. But it really opened a whole new world of games for me. I still don't care much for strategy games, but I found Halo Wars to be an enjoyable experience and wouldn't mind a sequel.

Great DAY

I don't think there's going to be another. The most people I've seen on the first Halo Wars in about 12,000. If they did, it would be a big waste of money.

Esemble Studio's are dead, and they own the game rights. So who knows? Maybe Microsoft will pick it up.

Frankie has said they've considered the idea but at the moment they are not working on a Halo Wars 2

My Grandfather was a Desert Ranger, my Father was a Veteran Ranger in the NCR. My father was killed by Caesar's Legion and they took my Brother. It's now my responsibility to uphold the mantle of the Rangers and avenge my Father and find my Brother.

I read somewhere that it was being planned...not sure if it was true though.

I'd like to know what happens to the Spirit of Fire, but Console RTS just don't work.

Well, I am a halo fanatic, for starters. When I have nothing to do for the day, I will just plainly dedicate those few hours of my life to Halo. Sadly, my bro turned his back on halo and flew into the world of COD. I also feel like an endangered species, because every girl I know absolutely HATES video games. You never see a girl playing halo much, so if your'e a girl who plays halo and sees no other girl playing halo, we're out there. :^D

Sure, I guess that would be cool. :/

Ignore the nay sayers. They just can't expand their horizon past FPS games. Anyway, I'd love a Halo Wars 2 along with an ODST 2, I may add. Halo Wars and ODST are two very underrated games that deserve sequels. (Another ODST wouldn't exactly be a sequel, though, but you know what I mean.)
Eh, Halo Wars 2, yes. ODST... nah. It's just, no, just no... Sorry, but I, personally, despised ODST. Not cause of the community's input.
But,I just thought ODST wasn't NEARLY complete. Meh, sorry

What better way to improve on the original than with a proper sequel?

  • 08.06.2011 6:31 PM PDT

I hope so. Maybe make it so there can be 5v5's and more people to choose from on both sides.

The Mythic Threads (Halo 3) (ODST) (Reach)

I liked Halo Wars a lot but if it didn't do well or as well as the other games, it might not happen. However, I think 343i said that they have it on mind so you never know.

And if they don't want to go the RTS route, they could always do an FPS with the Halo Wars storyline. But that's unlikely.

  • 08.06.2011 7:09 PM PDT

They should do it, set during the Flood-Forerunner and Human-Forerunner war.

I had a look around on some Halo wiki pages about prehistoric humanity (hoping it is 100% canon). Possible factions could be The Flood, Forerunner, Humans, Shan'Shyuum. The battle grounds could be pretty epic considering how technologically advanced the Forerunners were. And to have Humanity rival such power?

That spells epic to me.

I'd only be okay with this if story designers behind the Halo trilogy had some influence on the game. I'd hate to see bull-blam!- units and storyline that made no sense to game series we love.

We can only wonder though, time will tell!

To be honest, when I first saw all this in the weekly update I thought 2 things.
#1- there is an actual legendary ending but,
#2- No matter what anyone does,(kill all the bobs, hit all switches etc) that until the "time" mentioned in "There'll be another time..." is reached there won't be a legendary ending.

The weekly update by bungie has slowed my hardcore search for what unlocks the legendary ending.

I think that somewhere, 343 will add in somewhere a reference to halo wars, or just flat out add them into the new halo trilogy.
As we all know, waypoint took control of halo wars and all, and knowing that 343 created waypoint, we can half say that 343 now owns halo wars. you will need to know this for later.

So we know that there will be halo 4 and some other things to go with that. Now, remember how The Spirit of Fire ran into the shield world while chasing after Anders? They didn't exactly know what they were in, but we all know the structure as a shield world. (Skips canon details) in the end, Forge saved humanity by using the SoF's FTL drive to cause the star to go super nova, Doing so leaving the SoF no quick way to get home. Because of this, they have to go into cyro sleep.
Until Serina wakes Cutter to inform him that something has happened.

Now remember what I said earlier. This is where 343 comes in. Now owning halo wars, they don't have to ask for rights to use wars' canon or characters, they can just add them in. How could this affect halo 4? In a lot of ways. It would immediately answer what happened to the SoF. But Some other things could come out from this opportunity.

Forerunners. And since Anders studied the Shield world, it may, MAY lead her to rescue Halsey from Onyx, since we learned that Halsey gave Noble six's eulogy years later. After that, I cannot begin to think what could come out of it.

Explain why. I don't see that Halo Wars was worst RTS game, at all. Have you played Reach? That was definitely bad game.

In my opinion, Halo Wars was great Console RTS game, I understand there is some limitations but next sequel can have better features and better gameplay.

I don't understand why people can't extend their horizon ahead of FPS only game. It is very similar to CoD where it's always FPS game and many people became mindless drones to FPS games instead of trying out other genres.

I feel sorry for them that can't expand their horizons...

i think halo needs to fill another genre other than fps (and a failed rts) maybe a rpg of some sorts....

Failed RTS? Explain.

Seconded.

How did Halo Wars fail? The controls are brilliant for a console RTS, matchmaking (yet sometimes hard to find games) works wonderfully, with little-to-no lag or modders of sorts. I for one am eagerly awaiting a sequel, despite all the confirmations saying there won't be one..

  • 08.06.2011 9:12 PM PDT

I'm a Halo whore (much to my significant others dismay) and I will get any game that bears the Halo symbol on it. Now I was by no means a great fan of Halo Wars. I just plain sucked at it. I couldnt get past the third level! But I still own the game. I would gladly fork over money for a sequel.

As for ODST, I would pay out of my own pocket to get a sequel made. I would love to see Bucks team again.

  • 08.06.2011 10:24 PM PDT

No. Just...no. Horrible game that doesn't deserve Halo's title.
