3 body shots 1 head shot.

I've heard lots of people say this, but wouldn't it just be better to aim all 4 pulses for the head? If their shields get worn down extra by a grenade, I'll get an immediate kill that I wouldn't if aiming for the body. Of course it's easier to aim for the body, but if I eventually get good enough to hit the head with unerring accuracy, won't I have to 'unlearn' this tactic?

What you should do is aim at the upper body, then try to steer to burst to the head area, then inbetween bursts, reaim to the chest area. To get 4 bursts in the head is pretty hard, but if you combine jumping with tracking your bursts you should get way better.

Cool, thank you! I'll practice this in customs some more today.

being unpredicatable is the best approach. If your enemy cannot predict your future moves/strafe then you've got a good chance to catch them off guard.

I'm not bad at Halo or anything, I've reached a highest skill of 43
lol

OT: What Meags and Screamo said are your best bets, Hermoine has a good point as well. If your opponent knows what you'll be doing before you do it, it won't even matter. If you keep your strafing inconsistent (combine a short strafe, longer strafe, and jumping), at different intervals and in random order, you should be winning some more battles.

Thank you, this should help me out. Also, there's no need to be rude, even if you do think I suck.

just strafe randomly not just left right left right.

something more like left stutter left short right long left stutter short left right. just throw them off.

your br should always be on their head when theyre weak but should be on their neck when theyre full shields. remember to lead your shots if its lagging of over longer distance and remember to play with your head more than your br.

sure you might be able to 5 shot a lot, but you will still get out played by better players.

For gametypes/maps, check out some of the stuff on my 2nd account's fileshare, inparticular, Strafe Practice(The Pit) map. Btw, the sandbox map sucks.

Also if you want to "warm-up" your BR, 1v1 someone with MLG Slayer with sheild vaparism 100%. You can practice strafing a bit here.

  • 08.08.2011 10:47 PM PDT

You know what is what, but you don't know what is what, they just strut, what the -blam!-? -Funkagenda

Strafe. Bumper Jumper. I use a low sensitivity as well, usually one or two. Try not to jump to much, as you are more manueverable on the ground. Nade one shots all day.

  • 08.08.2011 10:58 PM PDT

If you're gonna nade and one shot wait for the nade to explode before you go for the headshot. The nade will often send your opponent in an unpredictable direction. Be a little bit patient.

Also gandhi hop like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Plt7dqVUKaQ&t=2m42s OMG. Fear gets absolutely destroyed.

Thank you, these should help out a lot. Also, I created that game mode you suggested just a few days ago, it's really helpful.

Nice....that was brutal. Any hop tips?

  • 08.09.2011 7:18 AM PDT

Be double-jointed? :) Just be random like someone else said. You can also jumping then crouching 'til you hit the ground then immediately uncrouch and jump and you'll do a bunny-hop for a little extra height on your jump.

You can also use this to jump higher and get to places that you couldn't before like snipe spawn to the top of the ribcage thingy on Isolation.

Watch some VoD from Heinz, he's really good at being random according to Snipedown.

what?

1-2? are you retarded? ignore this advice. optimal sensitivity is 4-5.

and you should add a jump to your strafe every now and then but only at the end when youre weak just to throw them off. if you really want you can gandhi but you dont have to.

if the roof is low enough to jump and hit your head (like s1 on guardian or in a doorway) then click crouch just as your head hits the roof. if you time it right youll shoot down pretty fast. keep jumpin around and it will be very hard to out br u.

I couldn't say it better than what Proven has said.

He's clearly a good player so take his advice.

  • 08.10.2011 2:29 PM PDT

I don't know what the -blam!- everyone is saying 4 shots to the head for. Shoot them in the chest 3 times, THEN aim for the head. The chest has a bigger hitbox/ thus it is easier to hit all 3 bullets from a burts.

And the only people I would listen to in this thread are Meags, Mike and Screamo.

Meags is underqualified for this thread. He is yet to perfect the 5 shot BR. In fact, he is stuck on the 12 shot still.

Man, in a group of people this good, I feel like if anyone's underqualified, it's me! Thanks everyone for helping me out! Does anyone know a good player on Youtube who posts instructional videos with commentaries? I find those help....if anyone else has more BR tips, I'd love to hear them!

You can check out T2s Halo 3 commentary.

It's old, but not bad.

Here's some commentary for Snip3downs gameplay Snip3down isn't commentating.

Basically just look at pro gameplays to see how to play and move around the map. You need to learn from your mistakes though if you wanna get better. You need to realise where you go wrong and not do it again.

EG. Run top mid, get destroyed. DONT RUN THERE AGAIN!

I see this so much from low level players it's not funny.

I know EXACTLY what you're talking about...I think it's especially funny when I snipe someone on a turret, and someone else gets on immediately. T2 generally has good gameplays, I've used them a lot lately. Hate his intros though.

If anyone wants to get an idea of my general play skill, view my fileshare and downlaod "all generals". It's a game I played against all generals or skill of 50s. I come in 2nd, but mostly because the other players were playing without thinking.
