And the only people I would listen to in this thread are Mike and Screamo.
Meags is underqualified for this thread. He is yet to perfect the 5 shot BR. In fact, he is stuck on the 12 shot still.
lol do I have to link me out bring you on 1 shot on your host?

<3 you simon, why did you leave earlier?
Hahaha I saw that coming.

Don't make me bust out the game links of you quitting and getting perfection'd on! :P

links with derankers on my team are irrelevant

  • 08.14.2011 2:12 PM PDT

I calls 'em as I sees 'em.

Aim for the mid-body for the first 3 shots. It does as much damage as all head shots. Aim for the head with the final 4th burst and watch as the 11th bullet eliminates enemy shield while the last 12th bullet to the head kills. While scoping long range always lead your shots.

I could find other links I'm sure. The fact of the matter is, you're bad.

Guess I'll have to defer to your expert and statistically robust estimates :(

I do like your tactic of being deliberately obtuse then accusing me of being stupid when I try to surmise what you're actually saying. Very clever.

aim for the neck, easier than aiming for the head and counts as headshot

I'm not bad at Halo or anything, I've reached a highest skill of 43
lol

OT: What Meags and Screamo said are your best bets, Hermoine has a good point as well. If your opponent knows what you'll be doing before you do it, it won't even matter. If you keep your strafing inconsistent (combine a short strafe, longer strafe, and jumping), at different intervals and in random order, you should be winning some more battles.

Thank you, this should help me out. Also, there's no need to be rude, even if you do think I suck.

ya u dont need to be rude to this guy im only a 41 and i ask the same kinds of questions. all u 50s were more so inexperienced (saying that in the nicest way possible) at one time so pls be nice to him.

all the tips in here are good, another thing that helps is jumping.. Also, don't mess around with your sensitivity too much, focus on a range of two levels like i go between 4 and 5, any more and you will throw yourself off too much imo
IMO you should never jump in 1v1 battles. If you jump, your opponent will know where you're going to land and can 4-shot you easily. The only exception is right at the end of the battle at the same time when you both are firing your last bursts.

My 2 cents:

Have a really unpredictable strafe - just do loads of random shizz, throw in the odd backtrack, maybe include jumps when you are weak or teabag/crouch half way through.

Play some swat so you get used to shooting at their heads instead of the bodies.

Lead your shots.

Find a good partner to play/practice with.

Play BR Arena/Colliseum/Tournament against decent players and play it a lot.

Octagon before you go into matchmaking to warm up your BR/Snipe.

In matchmaking, TEAMSHOT.

And, most importantly, make sure you are good with other weapons too! Seriously a BR is a really useful weapon but only in certain situations - learn to use a shotgun well or the AR close range. Even a needler can be useful on some maps.

Fyi I play sensitivity 4, bumper jumper and aim all shots at the head instead of 3 to the body one to the head, even though my BR isn't amazing I still manage to get 50s regularly just through playing well together with a team :)

Just try not to engage in BR battles that you think you will lose. I'm a 50 in Slayer and I can tell you that my BR isn't particularly good, and I know it. How do I solve it? I only engage in BR battles with people with whom I have either got a teammate nearby to help with, or have got the first 1 or 2 shots on before they see me. Otherwise, I will put shots in them until I am 1 shot, and then I will back off.

Knowing to pick your fights is an important skill.

Yeah, that's what I'll start doing. After all, why instigate a fight I can't win? Thanks for the help!

Thanks a lot, this should help me out! I'm hovering between sensitivity 4 and 5, both seem to work well. If anyone wants to play sometime, just send me a FR. Right now, most of my friends refuse to even play Halo, much less competetively....so I'm stuck with derankers for the time being. I can only communicate with people on my friends list (too many annoying 5 year olds on XBL) so you'll have to send me a friend request. I finally managed to hit skill of 44, so I'm definitely improving.

A lawyer's salary can buy a hell of a lot of Asian prostitutes, and that's pretty much all I care about.

Poorly, and with a screen-door style security system?

Don't take a year long hiatus from Halo and then expect to have a good BR when you return. My current problem -_-

Nice.....unfortunately, I have the opposite problem; I can't break my addiction long enough to take a 3 month hiatus, let alone a year!

Always be near cover if you can. Also, suprise helps a lot.

Yeah, I try to shoot at people who have their backs turned...free shot, and if they get away, at least they had to waste time, and they might still get cleaned up.
