I was just watching Demolition man and realized Sylvester Stalones character was named John Spartan.

I am sure it is just coincidence but still what are the chances?

Hilarious or should we all watch the movie carefully for clues. HAHA just playing about that.

@accordingto343

Your one stop shop for all of 343's fabulous errors and ridiculous notions in the Halo lore.

Bungie never used the name John, that was all Eric Nylund's doing.

I never knew that holy scrap.

Wait a second he used that name before Halo CE came out?

I didn't know that either.

That is crazy that they allowed him to make up the name and then used it in the game or at least Halo 3.

Pff, yeah, imagine if he named him Jiminy Billy Bob.

Since I don't know 100% is there anywhere he is called John before the books?

I gather not.

Halo 3 ending:

"It's been an honour serving with you, John."

I think Bungie had a great overview for the Chief even from Halo 1, and I'd imagine they gave Nylund the information such as something important like his name.

I was pretty sure if you were to go back and look at the McFarlane boxes from way back when like the first boxes it says Spartan John-117. Not 100% sure on that.

I didn't remember hearing his name in a game till Halo3 which was after the books.

Either way I would be shocked that Bungie did not have his name prior or would just let someone pick it.
