Subject: Idea to stop "bad link" spammers

I know there have been over 9000 threads on different ideas, but I have a new one. Its pretty simple to.

This requires users to use the report button. Make it so that if a user gets 3 post collapsed in 1 day, and each of those post have links, then the user looses the ability to link post for 24 hours. Also any previously made post loose the link.

This give time for mods to spring into action, and makes it so people wont click the link.

He'd have instantly stopped and knelt down, one fist on the ground, hoping to be impervious to the officer's attacks. When this would have failed and he's in the back of the police car, he'd blame his predicament on his friends for not being team players.

How would the ninja know to ban? I know you said it so users don't click it, but at the same time it takes away the offence.

How about something like the link becomes unhyperlinked or something.

Thats what I mean.

Say someone post this, after reported it becomes this

Note, the 2nd link dosnt have the html:// so I could show what I meant.

What's wrong with "bad link" spammers?

If you dont like that, another idea is just have it so any post they make become collapsed.

Either way, you still may have idiots who will want to see what it is, but it decreases the chances.

They could just get another ninja or two dedicated to opening the link and checking the safety of all of them. Instead of all the ninjas covering all the reported posts. Just devote certain ninjas to different things.

Ninjas normally know if its a bad link or not. Its just a matter of one of them being online, in the right form. Since new Ninjas barely come around, this is a solution to the problem.

I actually like the idea. Besides, I'm sure Bungie could figure something out for the "Report" side of things.

Off topic, but: Why is this? If I were to happen to be chosen as a ninja (not likely at all, just saying...), I'd be on here da** near constantly. lol Not to be a troll, just to perform my new responsibilities as well as I possibly could.

Gots to keep the community safe! =)

I'm not trolling on the Ninjas by any means, just a curiosity I had based upon the quoted post.

I program games, that's all you need to know.

Strongly agree.

I don't click on them till I hover my cursor over the link.

I dont know why we haven't got more ninjas. I see lots of good candidates and there's a need for them IMO.

OT: Were always being told to report, why not improve the report system?

I do to, but there's been a few time where I thought it was a fine link, but the url was deceptive.

True, I can see where you are coming from. I notice the same ninjas in every thread and really don't see any new ones that often. I don't think there can be a perfect system, other than the website filtering out links by itself.

There's thousands of bad site im sure, and every time one would be blocked, spamers will find another.

Great DAY

I don't see how this would fix the problems just by banning the user from posting a link only for 24 hours, he would just do it again a day later.

And I didn't really understand the last line, where mods would come into action, maybe that might be a big junk of your idea, but I struggled to understand that part.

There are easier ways to find a minefield than to run around in it.

If they actually did something bad, the mods will see them as reported and ban them as soon as they're online. What my idea does is stop there links from being clicked when mods aren't around in time. The whole 24 hours part is if people are being dicks or idiots and someones post gets collapsed for no reason.

Alright, not a bad idea actually. Now if this idea was actually executed, don't you think this might ban wrong people, or innocent people might be banned for being spammed of reports from other dick people.

It's just a thought, but all in all, it's a well thought-out idea.

This is hilariously awesome timing. I came in this thread to propose a second idea to accompany this, and the poster above me is exactly what I'm talking about! This timing is so weird.

I was just thinking. You guys know how people will, say, press enter a lot to make a really long post? Well why not... get rid of that? If you press the space bar more than once, it only counts the first space bar. So why not limit the amount of spaces the Enter Key will give you?

And limit repetitive statement or something, so if somebody puts some word (or a sentence) a thousands times, it won't let them post! The first one in particular seems pretty realistic to me though.
