Subject: Why is Noble team so horrible?

Why is it that the team that is suppose to be equivalent of a spartan II squad suck so bad? I mean surely they can't be all that bad. WRONG!!

I would like to first start off by saying not all of them are completely useless. For example Carter.

Lets break down the last cutscene in the level Winter contingency. Kat is looking around the machine while Six searches the body, while Jorge is trying to be human and comfort a women (a so called killing machine trying to be human how ironic), OMG elites jump down. This is where Carter first shines he instantly yelled to his squadmates they were engaged by covenant. Lets see what the rest of Noble does in this situation.

Jorge the spartan II who has seen 30 years of action against the covenant and is a killing machine, his first reaction to the threat is to try to protect the civilian. What?! You are a damn killing machine who eats covy for breakfast and you decide to protect the little girl. You could of wrestled at least one of the elites down and killed it with your bear-like hands.

The next part of the cutscene is the first elite running up to try to slash Kat. Her reaction is "I think I will stand here HURR DURR".

Carter's reaction is to quickly save Kat by making her duck away from the Field Marshall's energy sword.

Seeing that the elite has to get out of there because it is outnumbered it makes a break for it. As it does it shoves Noble 6 down. The so called "hyper-lethal vector" gets shoved down by an elite who has weak shields and might I add it does this with one arm. How does a spartan on par with the Master Chief get shoved down by a fleeing elite. Noble 6 don't you weigh half a ton in armor and have the best training in the UNSC? Why would you let the elite shove you aside with ease.

As the field Marshall is fleeing its shields are broken by non other than carter.

The Next Elite picks up Noble Six and attempts to stab the spartan in the face. Six's first reaction is block it. His second reaction to punch it in the face. Six how do you let yourself be picked up by an elite like your some pathetic marine and the best you can do is punch it in the face? You have a damn knife for forerunner's sake!! Both of the elite's arms are occupied leaving you enough time to reach for your knife with your right arm and stab it in the face.

Here is where Emile fails. The field marshal with no shields whatsoever turns the corner and guess what it does. It flies by Emile who has a shotgun and is facing an elite with no shields at a close distance. Emile how the hell do you not kill the elite?! It was almost dead! Even one shot from your shotgun would have been enough to severely cripple it if not kill it.

Carter comes in to save the day and kick the elite off of Six and Kat shoots the elites shields down. Carter decides to let the zealot crawl away while he still has ammo in his assault rifle. Why y no kill zealot Carter?!

Six gets his assault rifle thanks to Carter again and the two zealots grab the injured marine and hold him hostage. Only one of the Zealots is armed and the other has no shields left (they just start to charge as The spartans stand there).

If I was that Marine and my last moments of life were me being held hostage as a full team of spartans just stand there and not lift a finger to help I would have rage quiet life right there. I could of done a better job myself by just pulling a pin on my frag grenade and taking the squid faces with me to hell!!

Tl;DR: Noble team you are just terrible. I am glad you all died save for Jun. That cutscene said everything I needed to know. How you couldn't even handle 3 zealots, even while two of them you broke shields on and could of finished in a heart beat but didn't is beyond me.

First of all... China called and they want their wall back.

Also, you don't need to explain why Noble team sucks. We know.

1. I don't think you realise just how big and strong a sangheili actually is not to mention a -blam!-en field marshal. They are a lot bigger than a spartan and can fight just as well

2. DON'T EVER, EVER TALK -blam!- ABOUT JORGE

I understand nothing because my life is a conspiracy.

If it were a movie or a book they would be much better, but it is hard to make good friendly AI in a game. They are certainly better than older AI. Ad you honestly can't compare Spartan-II's to Noble Team because there aren't any Spartan-II AI (unless you count Jorge).

  • 08.07.2011 5:22 AM PDT

You know that the military are supposed to protect civvies right? It's kinda what their for. Why don't you try and take on three zealots in close combat. And as I'm sure we all know, Spartans always try to avoid direct combat with Elites.
And dude, it's just a game. We all know the Noble Team sucks. I mean the other day I was doing The Package on Legendary, and when we got to defending Halsey's lab. Emile goes and stands near some crates for the next hour or so it took for me to kill everything.

Ok, first, Jorge went for the civilian because he knows that he is safe, being such a badass, and the civilian is in deep -blam!-. And in the cut scene do you see the elites arms? Oh yea pinning down the 200 pound human with his much bigger arms.-.- Why are u a troll...

  • 08.07.2011 5:48 AM PDT

Unkown forger. Fear my laser face.
Hit me up

just because your a killing machine for an army dosen't mean all you do is kill. that would be called insanity. and by the way Jorge is not a machine he is a human just like the rest including master chief.

  • 08.07.2011 6:03 AM PDT

Why must you be such a troll? IT'S A VIDEO GAME. IT'S FOR FUN.

I know that you as Noble Six are usually doing all the work while the AI just sit around, but come on dude, like 10 paragraphs on why they suck? Do you have nothing better to do?

I think your analysis is a bit off, and since I'm a bit bored at the moment I'll break down why I think that.

Jorge is trying to be human and comfort a women (a so called killing machine trying to be human how ironic),

He isn't trying to comfort her at this point, he's trying to calm her down as she is terrified, hysterical, and punching him. He tries to comfort her later, and doesn't do that bad a job of it when all's said and done.

OMG elites jump down. This is where Carter first shines he instantly yelled to his squadmates they were engaged by covenant. Lets see what the rest of Noble does in this situation.

Yeah, I think his call is a tad unneeded, the Field Marshal's grand entrance having given the game away a bit. I guess it seves as a "weapons free" order though.

Jorge the spartan II who has seen 30 years of action against the covenant and is a killing machine,

Jorge is not some mindless killing machine, he's a Spartan II, taken from the best Humanity has to offer. He's pretty much astronaut-level smart. Just because he is big and carries a big gun don't equate him with a 'heavy weapons guy' stereotype it's not borne out by the background fiction, or Halo Reach itself.

his first reaction to the threat is to try to protect the civilian. What?! You are a damn killing machine who eats covy for breakfast and you decide to protect the little girl. You could of wrestled at least one of the elites down and killed it with your bear-like hands.

Of course it is.
Leaving aside that trying to protect the teenage girl (looks late teens to me anyway) would be a normal instinctive reaction for almost any adult Human, especially a man old enough to be her father, almost all the S II's see themselves as protectors of Humanity.
It's perfectly in-character for Jorge to try and protect an unarmed and helpless civilian, even at considerable risk to his own life (Spartans generally don't even consider it, they just do it).
Your suggestion would have Jorge (who is currently unarmed) tackling three opponents who are as strong and fast as he is, but taller, with better reach, and all armed with close-combat weapons that can cut through his armour like a knife through butter. And he would be in his team's line of fire.
His reaction to protect the girl, while probably instinctive, is almost certainly the best response given the circumstances.

The next part of the cutscene is the first elite running up to try to slash Kat. Her reaction is "I think I will stand here HURR DURR".

If you watch the video you can see she is securing the dataslate and trying to draw her pistol (unlike the others, she has holstered her weapon to work on the computer).

How does a spartan on par with the Master Chief get shoved down by a fleeing elite. Noble 6 don't you weigh half a ton in armor and have the best training in the UNSC? Why would you let the elite shove you aside with ease.

Six isn't on par with the Chief, physically or training wise, she is smaller and presumably lighter for starters. The Chief is of similar stature to Jorge. The Elite is simply much bigger and heavier, mass has it's advantages, there is little Six could do -any martial arts throws would need both hands which are full of assault rifle at the time.

As the field Marshall is fleeing its shields are broken by non other than carter.

Six

Six's first reaction is block it.
Good reaction, saves her life.

His second reaction to punch it in the face. Six how do you let yourself be picked up by an elite like your some pathetic marine and the best you can do is punch it in the face? You have a damn knife for forerunner's sake!!

The elite is bigger and stronger, she also has no time to realistically draw a knife, and even if she did the Elite still has shields up so it would be of questionable use.

Here is where Emile fails.

He says it "blew past him" suggesting he was taken by surprise as it rushed him, and it didn't stick around to chat. Elites can move pretty quick.

Carter decides to let the zealot crawl away while he still has ammo in his assault rifle. Why y no kill zealot Carter?!

Because it's friend just took a hostage, and bought that elite some time in doing so.

Six gets his assault rifle thanks to Carter again and the two zealots grab the injured marine and hold him hostage. Only one of the Zealots is armed and the other has no shields left (they just start to charge as The spartans stand there).

The armed elite has already taken the hostage, and the other one's shield wasn't fully down.
Other than that, if there is a mistake in this incident, it takes place *here* when Carter doesn't order his troops to fire anyway regardless of the hostage. The Covenant rarely take prisoners for long, so that marine is dead anyway if they get away (as he is at the end of the level). However few soldiers would fire on one of their own, so this is entirely forgivable.

Wrong actually... Jorge is large for a Spartan 2. The S3's of Noble team were of similar height to Master Chief.

To the OP:

A: Jorge ducked because the Elite drew and energy sword, if he had stayed up he would have been cut down.
B: Carter didn't give Kat the chance to dodge, he dive/shoved her as she was drawing her weapon.
C: The zealot did not pick up Six. Where the hell did you get this image of the zealot holding up Six? It grabs him yes, and the simple fact Six stopped a zealot's stab with a SINGLE hand is pretty good. Six then attacks the Elite with the main thing available, punching.
D: Based on shield recharge time from the zealot getting to his feet behind his pal from when it popped... I'd have to say the field marshall's shields were back up when it went past Emile.

  • 08.07.2011 7:53 AM PDT

"Wake me...when you need me."

It's not reality OP. It happened that way because they WROTE it. Noble Team ISN'T REAL!

(yeah i no its from gears, but how many people are named Cole in a video game)

They are a pretty bad team to begin with, they really dont get along, seem to have psych problems, and dont work super well together. Jorge is the only one i really like

Let's take a look at ODST. Romeo and Dutch -blam!- at each other, but are best friends.

Psych problems?

  • 08.07.2011 8:18 AM PDT

To be honest, when I first saw all this in the weekly update I thought 2 things.
#1- there is an actual legendary ending but,
#2- No matter what anyone does,(kill all the bobs, hit all switches etc) that until the "time" mentioned in "There'll be another time..." is reached there won't be a legendary ending.

The weekly update by bungie has slowed my hardcore search for what unlocks the legendary ending.

Jorge and six were probably the only good pair in the game.

You paid way too much attention to Reach's cut-scenes...

Carter didn't shout "We've been engaged" to the team; he was responding to Emile who, over comms, asked about their situation.

The Mythic Threads (Halo 3) (ODST) (Reach)

That's a lot of text for one single cutscene, I'm surprised you didn't say anything about Kat's driving skills or Emile's knowledge of his own weapon.

O hai

"There came a man who was sent from God; his name was John. He came as a witness to testify concerning that light, so that through him all men might believe."
Gospel of John, 1:1-7

Well, 3 Zealot class elites with the element of surprise against a group of Spartans who aren't all armed and have to protect two different non-Spartans.

It's pretty understandable that they managed like they did. In fact, it's a testimony to their skill because they weren't slaughtered by the 3 elites like normal marines would have been.

  • 08.07.2011 11:40 AM PDT

Okay I do not feel like quoting ten other people, but I will answer flat out questions about what I think, and etc.

After rewatching the cutscene I did see that Six busted the field marshal's shields. I just forgot to switch it because it was a good 5:00 A.M giving me some slack would be nice.

Bings me to my next point, I was tired and bored laying in bed so I decided to breakdown a cutscene. Seeing your reaction was a little amusing when I awoke today though.

To the annoying guy who said go get a life; I have one and I bet that it is just as good as yours. IT was 5:00 A.M!! What is there to due that late into the night huh?(Reason why I choose that cutscene to me it seemed like they could of done better.)

Also to the guy that says its just a game, cutscene in Reach look like they are on par with the books. There cutscenes for forerunner's sake not moments of gameplay so I expect the spartan's true selves to come and kick ass! Half of Noble finally mans up but that is only when they are about to die...

Here is the little thing I noticed. Jorge does have some hell of reactions to just dodge that sword so I will give him that. What I do not understand is when the first elite runs through the other ones are right behind it. Well the last elite, the one that didn't pick up the hostage could have been an easy target for Jorge he could of attacked it from behind while it was running past him.

To the guy that said Jorge isn't a heavy weapons guy and that motto doesn't fit him. Then why the hell did they make him that in the finale game? They sure ass hell made sure he was the big heavy gunner GRRR type guy. Also I never said he was a mindless killing machine.

Also I know elites are strong but I feel like six could have stopped the elite long enough for the team to help out. I mean the Spartan weighs a good two hundred or so over 1000 pounds how hard is it to just throw your weight at the elite. Six could have stopped the field marshal cold with a solid tackle to the legs or waist.

To the people saying elites are super strong. If a human male presumably about 200 pounds or so can tackle an elite that weighs about as much as that field marshal if not more due to his gargantuan height even for an elite and bring it to the ground what the hell is stopping a fully suited spartan!!!???

Emile had no good raisin to not have killed the damn field marshal. Carter shot it in the back a bit to make sure its shields stayed down, and Emile was suppose to take care of any hostiles coming his way. He had the range and advantage including a damn shotgun in close quarters. All he needed was one shot from that distance and the zealot would have dropped.

To the guy who said Noble team is not real. There is a theory (scientists still do not know if it is 100% correct) but that there are an infinite amount of parallel universes where everything will and can happen. If the theory is correct (Big IF but whatever!!) then that means somewhere, sometime, Noble team and the whole halo verse is real :P

forgive me for any spelling or grammar errors I have to go have breakfast with some friends.

Where in gods name did you get that idea? A Halo Wars cut scene? Elites are the physical equals of Spartans. Please familiarize yourself with cannon before making these inane comments.
