This man, this man right here put it so eloquently that I actually cancelled my own 2000+ word long post.
/slow clap for respect

:)
The person who said participating is important, not winning, obviously never won anything.

I really liked Noble Team. Although they could have had better development and a better story to be put in, I overall really liked them.

I especially liked that Noble Team each had their armor customized to their liking, something that Spartan II's aparently did not do on Noble Teams level, which would make no sense.

Vengeance only leads to an ongoing cycle of hatred.

We know. You wanna see real Spartans? Here.

To the OP, you try going from standing perfectly still, to successfully tackling a larger, heavier opponent who is going toward you FULL speed in a shoulder ram.

If I may point out, there are some major differences between the two.

A: Spartans wearing Mark IV, and it's bright lighting.
B: Spartans KNEW the Elites were there, the elites did not drop down right on top of them basically.
C: Those are STEALTH elites, NOT ZEALOTS. Slightly massively difference in danger.

D: That Halo Wars cutscene was all artistic licsense.

Sidenote: Idk if those were stealth elites, the color was about right and they lacked shields, but they weren't seen cloaking and their use of the energy pike suggests they are some sort of honor guard.

You're a joke. These Spartans did a helluva lot more then Noble Team.

ummmm... Read the books and you'll see how dumb that cutscene was .It was like something out of legends, done by some one who heard a brief description of Spartans and based an action scene off it.

Spartans do kick ass (albeit probably with less choreagraphy), but Elites are their equals, not mentally retarded pseudo medieval goons.

Actually, if you watch the cutscene, when Jerome calls to Forge, you see the Elites uncloaking at the other end of the bridge.

Edit: Might be Douglas who calls...

If you get lower and more leverage you can do it, maybe not with ease but it would still be a possibility.

To the other guy, regarding the halo wars cutscene. Artistic or not it is still canon.

Chances of ANYBODY standing where Six was and successfully tackling the Field Marshall after it turns to run is slim to none.

Also, again, Stealth elites do NOT = zealots. If it was ultras or zealots in that cutscene, Jerome, Alice, and Douglas would be dead.

Or if the Elites had... well you know, guns?

  • 08.07.2011 1:37 PM PDT

Or they kept stealth going until very close, then leap out and stab at the Spartans.

The fact that the Elites were bumbling morons is why I hate that cutscene, and how Forge is somehow going hand to hand with the Arbiter and winning...

1. I don't think you realise just how big and strong a sangheili actually is not to mention a -blam!-en field marshal. They are a lot bigger than a spartan and can fight just as well

2. DON'T EVER, EVER TALK -blam!- ABOUT JORGE

This. I'd like to see you in Six's shoes and see how you'd do. Oh wait, you'd die.

ummm...I already read all the books. You sir, are an idiot. Spartans could do whatever the hell they want in combat if they get the job done.

We should know better, because we are better.

Both fights can be easily explained here. It is quite blatant. The cutscene in Winter Contingency had 3 Zealots, and because there was only 3 of them, they were better in the fight. The HW cutscene had ~30-40 elites and as such they fared much worse. Funny how it works.

Oh that's simple. Ripa was an arrogant -blam!- who was more focused on pleasing his ego/showing off instead of killing Forge. If it was Thel as the Arbiter, he'd outright kill Forge instead of boasting.

This sounds like you look at Haloid and go "That's legit Spartan battle movement."

First of all... China called and they want their wall back.

Also, you don't need to explain why Noble team sucks. We know.
This and,

Six could have been easily picked up by the PoA before leaving. Would've made things easier for MC. Reach was also unfortunate, I can't say more unfortunate than Harvest but Oh well.

Emile had no good raisin to not have killed the damn field marshal. Carter shot it in the back a bit to make sure its shields stayed down, and Emile was suppose to take care of any hostiles coming his way. He had the range and advantage including a damn shotgun in close quarters. All he needed was one shot from that distance and the zealot would have dropped.

"That tango blew past me. Permission to pursue?"

"Negative Four stay on that entrance!"

Elite more then likely bowled right through Emile, knocking him flat on his ass. Hence his question about pursuing the elite.

But why would Carter deny Emile permission to pursue? That only gives the Elite time to call for reinforcements and get away waith valuable information that there are 6 Spartans, which would likely result in heavier offensive efforts against the planet after.

What exactly is Emile going to do staying by the entrance? Carter should have told him to get off his arse, chase the Elite, then neutralise it. Halsey expresses similar concern in the next mission, scolding Carter for letting the Zealot group get away with valuable information.

tl;dr - carter r dumd

@accordingto343

Your one stop shop for all of 343's fabulous errors and ridiculous notions in the Halo lore.

And yet even with all those problems you listed, the entire team and Sara survived.

Yeah, they survived. But the Field Marshall escaped with Sorvad's "latchkey" information. Sara surviving is irrelevant when she wasn't even a part of the plot and isn't anyone special, just a civilian; her father, however, was an ONI scientist which is a pretty substantial loss.
