And yet even with all those problems you listed, the entire team and Sara survived.

Yeah, they survived. But the Field Marshall escaped with Sorvad's "latchkey" information. Sara surviving is irrelevant when she wasn't even a part of the plot, her father was an ONI scientist which is a pretty substantial loss.

True. However, Noble still survived and managed to save a civilian. It isn't much I know.

I wouldn't even call it a victory. That minor skirmish at Visegrad was a decisive victory for the Covenant because their high ranking Field Marshall escaped with data on a latchkey discovery with the potential to win the war - all because Carter told Emile to stand by the door and not do anything.

I currently am working on Halo Wars achievements. 4 to go.
I currently am working on Halo 2 achievements.
I currently have all Halo 3 achievements.
I currently have all Halo 3:ODST achievements.
I currently have all Halo: Reach achievements.

As a group of real characters, Noble Team was beyond an "epic fail". They looked cool, but that was about it. Jorge was the only one we sorta cared for, but he died too quickly. Carter is one dimensional, as for Kat, Jun and Emile. Nobody gave a crap for any of them. They had little to no character development. When they tried to make a "boots in the mud" story, it turned out awful somehow.

Where the hell was Staten during this project? I know he was doing the new IP, but really? For a developer who claim to be (or want to be) master storytellers (I'm looking at you Vidoc), they did a terrible job with Reach's story. NOT including canon "errors". I don't care about the retcons, I was just massively disappointed with their final Halo campaign's story.

I really wanted to like Noble Team, I really did, I mean, how couldn't you? They look awesome and kickass with thier custom armor and stuff. But it just didn't turn out to be the character centered story they said it would be.

If we had more cutscenes that were more effective in showing the characters thoughts and emotions like LNOS' intro, then we might have liked them a lot more and cared when they died.

Anywho, I know I'm whining like everyone else on the forums, and I don't really like to or need to complain about Halo, but this was just disappointing. For shame Noble Team. For shame.

"Nothing but the rain."
"Then grab your gun and bring in the cat."
"Boom, boom, boom!"

tl;dr - carter r dumd

Something I agree with lol. That was just a terrible call in general.

  • 08.07.2011 6:23 PM PDT

in regards to why these spartans arent as good as master chief, they are spartan-III's he is a spartan-II. He has better armor, and he cost alot more to make, spartan-III's were seen as a cheaper way to make alot more, so that if they died it wouldnt be so much of a loss. Plus master chief is just plain badass.

Also, leave jorge alone, he was awesome!

and i dont know why everyone says the story in reach was bad, i thought it was great. i loved the character development and everything. well except kat, she needed to die.

However, as Kat was holding the encoded datachip, I don't think the Field Marshall got away with any information beyond something was at Sword Base.

And to the last post... That's wrong. Noble Team and Master Chief both had Mark V armor. His wasn't magically better.

We know. You wanna see real Spartans? Here.

Real Spartans? Hahahahahahahahahahahahaaha

...wait, that was a joke right?

If I may point out, there are some major differences between the two.

A: Spartans wearing Mark IV, and it's bright lighting.
B: Spartans KNEW the Elites were there, the elites did not drop down right on top of them basically.
C: Those are STEALTH elites, NOT ZEALOTS. Slightly massively difference in danger.

Not to mention, those Elites had spears and no shields and they had to cross a huge gap before getting to the Spartans, whom had SMGs and a shotgun.

Sigh...Is that all you do is defend Reach over every little thing? Amazing.

I don't see them as that poorly written compared to some other Halo characters. But I have to ask, does it really bug you that much people have reasons to defend Reach? I don't go "Sigh, someone defending Episode I, amazing".

"It is not a goal, but a process. The process of creating the perfect world."

That happened so that you, as the player, could kill them yourself. That simple.

To be honest, it'd be a pretty hard fight if you actually had to play that part. Three sword wielding zealots in close quarters? It'd be "that one battle" for sure.

All I know, is right after that cutscene that damn sword Elite killed me at least 4 times...

  • 08.07.2011 9:28 PM PDT

I'll remain a soldier until the war is won.

For Kats death it's been stated in supplemental materials that Kat sometimes left her shields turned off and often lacked awareness of the battlefield.

.....so in short she was a -blam!- spartan then.
Oh, let me just take my flak jacket off in the middle of a patrol through afganistan and not pay attention to the IED indecators blatently infront of me.
Why/how was she put on noble team then? Shldve fed her into the meat grinder with the rest of Beta company in that case.

  • 08.07.2011 9:32 PM PDT

-blam!- Was that actually blammed out? Or did I just type it? You'll never know.

Yeah, for super soldiers they seem like a bunch of kids playing paintball.

The fact that the Elites were bumbling morons is why I hate that cutscene, and how Forge is somehow going hand to hand with the Arbiter and winning...

Oh that's simple. Ripa was an arrogant -blam!- who was more focused on pleasing his ego/showing off instead of killing Forge. If it was Thel as the Arbiter, he'd outright kill Forge instead of boasting.

ummmm... Read the books and you'll see how dumb that cutscene was .It was like something out of legends, done by some one who heard a brief description of Spartans and based an action scene off it.

ummm...I already read all the books. You sir, are an idiot. Spartans could do whatever the hell they want in combat if they get the job done.

This sounds like you look at Haloid and go "That's legit Spartan battle movement."

I think this scene was a bit stupid because by the looks of it those elites were honor guards which are some of the most highly skilled elites there are and should of been able to beat the spartans especially in the numbers they were in

I also think that Ripa was a better fighter than Forge and could of easily beaten Forge especially with the size difference had he not toyed with him

*Shrug* The only, and strong only thing would be the pikes. However, those looked like a normal pike and not the honor guard one (would have to look it up).

Oh, definitely. If Ripa hadn't toyed with him, Forge would have died fighting alone. However, I've seen people go "Realistically, Ripa would kill Forge every time!" and I reply with "Um, not true, every time Forge would outsmart Ripa and play to his arrogance, which is why Forge won."

Cater shouted "We have been engaged" to Emile who asked "What is your stats"
shows how little you are paying attention.

huh?

Are you ok? Do you need back up? Do i need to pursue? Do i wait for them?

Thats why you ask "what is your stats" to figure out what needs to be done.

When you got to the part where you said it was bad that Six got pushed down by a Zealot I knew you had to be trolling. Zealots are some of the finest of the entire Covenant military. The fact that Six, who was caught off guard, was shoved down by a Zealot is not surprising in the least bit. Sangheili warriors as a whole are incredibly strong, and it is no surprise that their best can shove a spartan.

What is incredible, is that Six was able to stop the Zealot's sword blow and then hit him with a haymaker. I would assume that being shoved by an Elite is like getting hit by a train. The fact that Six was able to recover and defend himself shows how truly badass he is.

You are correct that Ripa's arrogrance was what got him killed. However, don't you think that it's a little farfetched that Forge would be able to tackle him like that, and then be able to keep fighting after that vicious punch to the stomach? I would think that a blow like that from an Arbiter would be like getting hit by a car.

I could be overestimating Ripa's strength though, and I'd just like your opinion on it.
