Subject: In the vidoc, was that forgeworld 2.0? For bungies new game...

There is a spot where they show a snow mountain top being added to a map i assume.... Perhaps they just showed us forgeworld 2.0

I know it woldnt have that name but still...

It looked like you would need a mouse to navigate the menu system, so perhaps theres a pro side where you can use better tools than default editor in the new game. Heres hoping.

Also i get the feeling that there will be custom matchmaking... They talked about how they dont know where the community will take the game.

Here my speculation, open world game with other galaxies to explore. You can choose your order ( like odst) but then you can explore user created planets.... This is where it gets interesting... Imaging combining firefight with foregworld.... Whe you can script when and where and what the enemies are... You can script if then statements, likeif the capture the flag, now they must do this... In the map/ planet you have forged. Then you submit it, and as long as the gametype works with the map then it can be found by other people to check out....

I dont care if im a smurf fighting dinosaurs in bowsers castle... As long as its fun.

And if you arent the creative type, bungie will of course have thier own content and you can play that.

I dont think using the browser to edit a custom map is too much of a leap... Bungie.net can let you tag files, render files, ect. And if i have to pay 10 bucks extra to be a pro and use a mouse to edit my map... Well then awesomesauce.

Watch This.

It was probably a map or inviroment from Bungie's new game.

Where did he say "for Halo"?

Obviously its grumpy day here on the forum. I was talking about thier new game having a editor like forgeworld.

Now go ask mommy to change your diaper.

To be honest dude we don't know if the new game is gonna be an FPS, let alone implement forge. It very well could be a campaign level if its that big for all we know.

  • 08.07.2011 1:06 PM PDT

I would have to guess that it's an internal program, but if we could use it as well that would be pretty cool.

Did you even read the OP?

It looked more like a campaign level in development than a blank canvas for players to edit.

I don't think he mentioned Halo.

It might have to do with Aerospace.
Grognok could be one of the resources offered to those indie devs.

I don't think they would trademark an internal build of a terrain editor.

Who cares if someone takes the name of something you use inside the studio that no one would ever see?

Say what?

Do you think Bungie will put a forge feature into their next game?

it's their internal engine tool to create maps/ingame environments for their new game. That's all. That's all there is to say about it.

So bungie blurred the screens of some computers but left this one for us to see... Why bother unless it was important or a nice foreshadowing...

Anyone else think for bungies 21st they'll swamp us with new ip info?
Can we wait that long?

New prediction, console mmo... With cross platforming... Ps3 and 360 playing nicely together... With a hugely updated bungie.net... Maybe even an ios specific app.... Because when im at work icheck in on my gaming stuffs.... Maybe even more than i play... So of o could do something via browser and then when im home i see the changes ( downloading maps via broswer wich reach does, but imagine changing your armor while at work... Or spending credits to upgrade something... )

It's like "Where's Waldo?" except Waldo's not there.

On topic: I would be very excited to see an extensive map editor in Bungie's next title. That would be completely awesome.
